INTERVIEW: Henry Rollins talks Kilowog’s training days

Henry Rollins is so many things to so many people.

One moment, he’s the uber-tattooed punk rock front man for Black Flag or The Rollins Band; the next, he’s stealing the spotlight as one of the memorable cast of Sons of Anarchy; and while that’s airing, he’s ranting live for hours to sold out crowds as one of the most popular spoken-word artists of our day, easily translating that mad-as-hell attitude and undying curiosity into his thought-provoking KCRW talk show. His quarter century of globe-trotting has recently added National Geographic to his resume, the latter day Renaissance man now filming documentaries for the renowned publication.

Intelligent? Beyond your dreams. Intense? Absolutely. Restless? Without a doubt. But does Henry Rollins ever pause long enough to be playful? Animation fans know it all too well.

When he isn’t perusing the Sudan, performing in Prague or recording for public radio, Rollins takes to another of his true passions: voiceovers for animated projects.

TALK BACK: Smallville

The final episode of Smallville has finally aired.  Ten years is a long time for any television series to be on the air, but for a comic book based franchise to last that long is an accomplishment.

What did you think? Now is your time to use the comment section to reflect on ten years of pseudo-Superman and all it created. Did you love it?  Did you hate it? Did you remember things differently than Matthew did earlier today?

AAAANNNNNNDDDDDDD… go.

RUMOR: Bane origin revealed?

One of the biggest questions surrounding The Dark Knight Rises is how will Bane tie into the overall story?  A number of rumors have been spilling out of the bowels of the Intardwebz, and the latest has Bane emerging from a Venom filled Lazarus Pit.

The Plot leak you’ve been waiting for: Eyewitnesses and crew members told us of a particular scene being filmed, where a bald-headed child wearing ragged clothes emerges from the well and pulls his hood over his head. From the conversations, we reckon this is a young Bane, emerging from a vat of Venom, trained by Pence’s Ra’s al Ghul. The years of addiction to Venom builds him to be a massive monster with amped up senses, intelligence and physical prowess.

Keep in mind this is just a rumor, but since the Lazarus Pit is bound to come up in the Christopher Nolan trilogy, this might be the logical way to connect Bane with Ra’s.

THE MERCH: Warner Bros. sues Batmobile replica manufacturer

Gotham Garage, the West Coast company that creates custom automobiles, is being sued by Warner Bros. for infringing on its trademarks and copyrights.  At the center of the argument is the Tim Burton inspired Batmobile, that the company sells for $5,500.

DC Comics is telling a California District Court that the sale of imitation Batmobiles is likely to confuse the public into believing that the cars are authorized products. It wants a permanent injunction, the destruction of infringing goods, and statutory damages of no less than $750,000 per infringement.

Last year, we told you of a company that sells reproductions of the 1960s Batmobile, but they have a signed agreement with Warner Bros. to reproduce the vehicle.  If you purchased one of these kits from Gotham Garage, consider yourself lucky.
