This column focuses on the comics industry, so even though a lot of awful things took place this past weekend, including a mass killing not far from where I live in Central Florida, it’s important to talk about a trend I’ve been noticing recently when it comes to the genre.
I don’t always remember my first encounter with a comics creator. In fact, it may take several “meetings” for me to “notice” a great writer or artist. However, when it comes to both Jay Faerber and Jamal Ingle, I never have a problem with this. The first time I read their work was back in 2003 in this Image Comics series, Venture. The cool thing is that Action Lab is now reprinting the series, and I’m collecting them because they’re so worth having! (I never got good copies the first time around, but I just had to read them!)
This week on the Major Spoielrs Podcast: We are nine! I mean the site is nine (though some of us act like nine year olds! Hooray! Also, The Totally Awesome Hulk, Inside the Sideshow Studio, Daredevil #16, Venture #1, YOU pick the trade paperback, and we reflect on being nine! Again, the site, not our ages.
Press Release In 2003, superstar creators Jay Faerber (Copperhead, Dynamo 5) and Jamal Igle (MOLLY DANGER, Supergirl) launched a brand new superhero title at Image Comics. Called VENTURE, it was a new spin on the classic “metropolitan” hero. After twelve years, VENTURE is back…at Action Lab Entertainment!
