James Vanderbilt has signed by Sony to write the fourth installment of the Spider-Man movie franchise.  Although that might seem like a big announcement for some, it’s kind of late news as Vanderbilt already turned in the first draft of the flick, with two other writers (David Lindsay-Abaire and Gary Ross) to do the rewrites.  The bigger news is he is also on board as the writer for movies five and six. Spider-Man 4 is currently in pre-production, with a 2010 production date, so everything can be wrapped and the film in theaters by May 2011. via Variety

According to an interview over at Empire Online, the Spider-Man 4 script is on the way, and if everyone is up to it, the film could be in production soon. “James Vanderbilt is writing the script and I’m excited to read it.
