Jesse Blaze Snider to write Toy Story ongoing series for Boom! Studios

Press Release

Why wait until next summer’s TOY STORY 3 to get your Buzz on? BOOM Kids! has your back! With the breakout success of last Spring’s TOY STORY miniseries, BOOM Kids! announces today that as of December, TOY STORY will launch as an ongoing monthly, starting with TOY STORY #0, written by rock star Jesse Blaze Snider!

“When I first saw TOY STORY years ago, I was in love,” said Snider. “It wasn’t just the idea that every toy has a secret life, but I was fascinated with the secret lives of those toys we saw in the film. It’s always been something in the back of my mind, Woody and Buzz and even the Pizza Planet aliens waiting to come out to play again. This is a tremendous opportunity and it will not disappoint.”

Toy Story 3 Trailer lands

The release date for Toy Story 3 draws ever closer, and Disney has sent Major Spoilers the new trailer to the movie.

The creators of the beloved “Toy Story” films re-open the toy box and bring moviegoers back to the delightful world of Woody, Buzz and our favorite gang of toy characters in TOY STORY 3. Woody and Buzz had accepted that their owner Andy would grow up someday, but what happens when that day arrives? In the third installment, Andy is preparing to depart for college, leaving his loyal toys troubled about their uncertain future. Lee Unkrich (co-director of “Toy Story 2” and “Finding Nemo”) directs this highly anticipated film, and Michael Arndt, the Academy Award®-winning screenwriter of “Little Miss Sunshine,” brings his unique talents and comedic sensibilities to the proceedings. TOY STORY 3 will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

Buzz Lightyear returns from space

For the past 15 months, Buzz Lightyear – or rather the Buzz Lightyear action figure/toy – spent time floating around the International Space Station as part of a NASA – Disney educational outreach program. Coincidentally, Buzz returned to Earth on September 11th, just in time to promote this weekend’s Toy Story and Toy Story 2 Digital 3D double feature.  Who’s going to see the movies again on the big screen?

LEGO getting the movie treatment

G.I. Joe, Stretch Armstrong, ViewMaster, and by the time you read this, probably Slinky are getting the movie treatment, so it comes as no surprise that LEGO is being targeted by Hollywood for a film adaptation.  Dan and Kevin Hageman have been hired by Warner Bros. to write a movie around the building toy.

The live action-CG hybrid is described as a movie set in the world of Lego that centers on the subject of child-like imaginations and examines themes of creativity and teamwork in the manner of “Toy Story.” While the pic will have elements for children, the studio is hoping the film is a four-quadrant play that can also appeal to adults.

With the success of the LEGO themed video games, and the fact the toys have been around since the mid 60′s, it wouldn’t surprise me to see more adults in the theater if and when the movie finally debuts.  The big question is, what themed set should be featured in the film?  Space, Castle, Adventure, or the ever popular City theme?  If the City theme gets the nod, expect to see a ton of police and gas stations throughout the movie.
