Toy Story passes $1 Billion mark

Disney has announced that Toy Story 3 passed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, joining Alice in Wonderland as the second billion dollar film from the Walt Disney Studios.

“It’s been an incredible year as we saw the Pixar team bring Buzz and Woody back to the big screen and watched Tim Burton’s vision for Alice in Wonderland take the world by storm,” said Rich Ross, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios.  “These box office triumphs prove that creative storytelling brought to life by imaginative, inspired and talented professionals is something audiences respond to the world over.”

Well it’s nice to know that even though I had to leave the movie earlier because of a cranky two year old, I did contribute to the cause…

Toy Story 3 becomes highest grossing animated film of all time

The Walt Disney Studios contacted us to let you know that Toy Story 3 has made more money than any other animated film released to date.  According to the company, Toy Story 3 brought in more than $920 million in global box office receipts, which is quite a sum of money indeed.  I wish I had a tenth of that…

“In 1995, the talented team at Pixar introduced a cowboy, a space ranger and their friends who have gone on to become some of the most beloved characters in the world.  The success of Toy Story is due to the tremendously creative and innovative team at Pixar, led by John Lasseter and Ed Catmull, and our incredible marketing and distribution teams around the world,” said Rich Ross, Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios.  “In Toy Story 3, director Lee Unkrich, producer Darla Anderson and the incredible team at Pixar have given audiences a film that continued the rich storytelling and character building that have become synonymous with every Pixar release.”

If you missed it in the theater, or just want to give up more money to the House of Mouse, Toy Story 3 arrives on DVD and Blu-Ray November 2, 2010.
