INTERVIEW: Filip Sablik and John Mahoney

Last week, The Last Mortal #2 hit comics book stores from from Top Cow. The series documents the life of small-time hoodlum Alec King who botches a hit, and it costs him the life of his best friend. In an effort to end things once and for all, Alex attempts to commit suicide, but after the gun goes off he discovers he has been given the “gift” of immortality. The series is an extremely gritty crime-noir tale that brings to mind some of the genres best including David Lapham’s Stray Bullets and Brian Michael Bendis’ Jinx.

MajorSpoilers.com caught up with Top Cow publisher and Filip Sablik and co-writer John Mahoney, to talk about the series, the magic sales number that a new creator owned project needs to survive, and how the success of Top Cow’s ECHOES has impacted Last Mortal.

Top Cow announces the greatest tournament ever

New Miniseries Challenges Fans to Take Part in the Upcoming Horror

INTERVIEW: Echoes Joshua Hale Fialkov and Rahsan Ekedal

Mark Silvestri’s Image Comics imprint Top Cow Productions is best known for turning out darker superhero titles like Witchblade, The Darkess, Artifacts and Cyberforce. The company has expanded to form Minotaur Press, a subsidiary imprint through Top Cow, that releases comics that don’t fall under the superhero umbrella.

The Flagship title from Minotaur Press is Echoes by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Rahsan Ekedal, a dark twisted horror book that is already becoming one of the best new comic book series of 2011. The premise is simple but haunting, as readers watch Brian Cohn struggle to control his life-long battle with Schizophrenia, while balancing a wife and new child on the way. Cohn’s life gets thrown into a hurricane when his dying father reveals his secret life as serial killer and that his trophies from the brutal killings are buried in the crawlspace.

Issue #3 of this chilling 5 part mini-series hits stores on the February 23rd, 2011, along with a second printing of the now sold-out first issue. Major Spoilers caught up with series creators Joshua Hale Fialkov and Rahsan Ekedal to talk about their dark twisted new horror series.

Top Cow announces Haun as Artifacts artist

Jackie Estacado descends into outer darkness

In the wake of Top Cow’s announcement of THE DARKNESS II video game for the Sony Playstation 3 from 2K Games, Image Comics and Top Cow Productions will present a new six-issue story arc entitled “Outer Darkness” for the ongoing comic book that started it all.
