The hot story hitting the Intardwebz has Kelly Souders, executive producer of Smallville, pushing for a tenth season.
“We are really, really pushing for season 10,” Souders said, adding, “I think the word still isn’t out there that we’re on Friday nights. So if people keep tuning in and telling their friends about it, I think [a 10th season] is quite likely.”
My TiVo down in the Major Spoilers Theater has silently been recording Smallville for the last two seasons, waiting for me to find the time to sit down and catch up on all the fun. Can the TiVo handle another season? And for that matter, do you want to see a 10th season of the alternate DC Universe series?
If we do a retcon, will it make that lawsuit go away?

Superman, Krypton, Smallville, Lex Luthor, Superboy, Lana Lang, rocket ship, super suit, heat vision, Ma and Pa Kent, glasses, and a spit curl; everything you already know about Superman’s history. The origin story has been told so many times I would bet you could walk up to some hot girl on the street and ask her about any of these, and she would know what you were talking about. So why, oh why, did DC give the light to Geoff Johns to retcon the well known origin story?
According to TV, Zan and Jayna (and space monkey Gleep) will be making an appearance in the 9th season of the CW’s Smallville. The Wonder Twins are scheduled to pop up in episode 8, but don’t expect pointy ears – viewers will see purple outfits, and see the duo transform into a sheet of ice and a cougar (presumably the animal kind and not the older woman on the prowl for a still young(?) Tom Welling).
That sounds cool, but what about another super-team appearance?
There is one, and you’ll have to take the jump for that reveal.

While you were busy looking at Tom Welling’s version of the Superman costume, we stumbled upon this image, of what might be a new design for the Stephanie Brown Batgirl costume. Many have already remarked that Stephanie continuing to wear the Cassandra Cain costume doesn’t feel right, so perhaps this Lee Garbett design will work. It does combine the Spoiler/Batgirl costume nicely.
And if that doesn’t fit with your world view, take the jump to see what DC posted on its blog this morning..
For those who haven’t seen the Smallville Superman costume in clear detail, here is Tom Welling sporting his black and silver duds for the season nine season opener (Sept. 25, 2009).

Show Notes after the Jump!
Geoff Johns announced during the Smallville panel that he is writing an episode called Society that introduces the Justice Society of America to the Smallville universe.
Also announced during the panel is word that Allison Mack and Tom Welling will both direct episodes this season. And as we hinted at the other day, Clark Kent will don the Superman suit in the season’s debut episode. The producers do want the series to go to a 10th season, and are hoping the shows move to Friday night will help that. The appearance of Zod, played by Callum Blue, will help that as well.
The panel members also said they read all the blogs that talk about the shows – even when the talk is “mean”. Hello everyone from Smallville, take a look around, we have more Smallville stuff here too. Perhaps you might get Erica Durance to stop by and say hello…
Well, duh, we already know Clark Kent is Superman and has been on the Smallville television series for the last 9 years, but one has to remember the Superman costume, and powers like flying have been kept strictly on the down-low to avoid mixing the Smallville universe with the DC in-continuity one.
That might all change come Sunday when it MIGHT be announced that Superman’s outfit will make an appearance in the season premiere of season 9 – aptly titled “Superman”.
Does this mean we might see Tom Welling take over the film franchise down the road? Another rumor has a made for television movie called Metropolis in the works for The CW.
Keep in mind, both of these are rumors for now, but we should have a better idea of what is going to happen on Sunday.
Why can’t they stay dead, again?

Things are heating up under that tight leather and mask everyone seems to be wearing in Batman: Battle for the Cowl #2. The Wheel of Destiny is spinning and someone is bound to walk away with the title of Batman. With a lot of animosity between the Wayne underlings, someone’s gonna get it right in the chest… perhaps even two somebodies. Yes, there are some spoilers ahead, but you’ll have to pick them out from my rantings.
Or – “They Had Me At Hello.”

Can I just say that I HATE the vertically aligned giant theme covers for Final Crisis and Final Crisis by-products? Not only is it nigh-impossible to get a decent cover scan, they have to cram whatever they’re trying to show you into 1/3 of a standard comics page, which compresses the visual information into a tiny little space and crams everything together. But enough whining. Legion fans and detractors alike have long complained that the logistics of a team with 25 members are impossible to coordinate, and I can certainly feel their pain. This series promises THREE DISTINCT VERSIONS of most of the characters from that 25 member team, as well as the vast majority of the evil types that the 30th Century has to offer, all wrapped up into one. Will it be as accessible as the first issue was?

Is Nightwing the new Tom Welling? Will the Dead Walk on schedule? Will Indy find his hat yet again? Would you want to drink from a bottle with the Goon on it? Will you look the best in spandex, or should you just write the songs that make the whole world sing? Is Stephen a clone? Is Rodrigo a zombie? Is Matthew a screaming queen? And what about Naomi? All these questions and more are answered in this installment of the podcast that doesn’t shy away from those musical questions.
