What happens when a husband and wife decide not to buy a home, but instead use the money to make a short film? The answer is Time Freak, and if you think dumping your dough into a film instead of investing in real estate is a bad idea, think again – the duo are up for an Academy Award tonight in the short film category.

REVIEW: The Traveler #1

There’s nothing like having your day interrupted by some weirdo, who wants nothing more than to cause mayhem and destruction. Things aren’t necessarily going to get any better when a masked hero appears on the scene, and if you aren’t careful, you might just find yourself with a fist through your chest.

Is time travel possible?

This weekend on the Major Spoilers Podcast, the Major Spoilers Crew will be talking up Back to the Future.  When talking about BTTF, a discussion of time travel is going to come up. Dr. Michio Kaku, physicist, talks about the river of time and how time travel might work… or not.

Major Spoilers Top Ten Time Travel Movies

There are certainly some days I wouldn’t mind going back and getting a do-over. This then leads to the conversation about changing the past, and thus altering the course of future events. It gets pretty trippy when you end up stepping on a bug and killing your future self, but it’s a risk many seem willing to take. Time travel may not be a possibility quite yet – or ever depending on which issue of Popular Science you’re reading – but if there’s one thing we do know, it’s time travel has a way of not working out the way we want it to.

We’ve scoured our brains and have come up with a list of our Top Ten Time Traveling movies that end up teaching us a thing or two about our desire to change past events.

Review: Galactica 1980 #1

1980_01_PICON.jpg

Is there life on Earth and does that mythical place even exist at all? Well both those extremely important questions are answered after Troy and Dillon discover the Voyager probe floating in space and take it to Dr Zee for analysis. The path to the promised land is now clear and although Adama is considering a completely different path, the rest of the governing council decide that the not inconsiderable risk is worth taking. However nobody bothered to inform NORAD that the Galactica was on its way and the Presidents response is both swift and deadly.

Stan Lee nabs Natasha Henstridge for Time Jumper

The motion comic, animated comic book features, and general digital comic book distribution is getting the Stan Lee treatment on Thursday, when Lee and Disney Entertainment unveil Time Jumper on the crowd at the San Diego Comic Con.

“Time Jumper” follows Terry Dixon, a college student in possession of his late father’s time-travel invention, the Articulus. After his brother goes missing, Dixon is recruited by H.U.N.T. (Heroes United, Noble and True), a secret crime-fighting unit that sends him through time to thwart Charity Vile, leader of the criminal cartel, C.U.L.T. (Council of Unstoppable, Lethal Terrorists).

To sweeten the deal, Stan “The Man” has landed Natasha Henstridge to voice the lead female character in the series.

I’m all for mobile media fun and entertainment.  If the publishers and companies involved in this kind of content can get the price point just right, it might do more for comics than the movies are doing now.

Mini Retro Review: FCBD Atomic Robo

Yes, Free Comic Book Day was weeks ago, but dang it, I’ve been busy with stuff (super secret stuff), and I only just made it to my FCBD stash in my ever growing comic book stack, which is relatively small when compared to my ever growing comic book collection that has not been bagged, tagged, and boarded.  It’s all on my to do list, just like this Mini Retro Review of Red 5 Comics’ Free Comic Book Day Atomic Robo issue.

Review: Batman: Battle for the Cowl #2

Why can’t they stay dead, again?

Batman_Battle_for_the_Cowl_2picon.jpg

Things are heating up under that tight leather and mask everyone seems to be wearing in Batman: Battle for the Cowl #2.  The Wheel of Destiny is spinning and someone is bound to walk away with the title of Batman.  With a lot of animosity between the Wayne underlings, someone’s gonna get it right in the chest… perhaps even two somebodies. Yes, there are some spoilers ahead, but you’ll have to pick them out from my rantings.
