Merlin gets a peek into Camelot’s troubled future and tries to change it – with decidedly dramatic results – in an all-new episode of the hit series MERLIN entitled “The Crystal Cave” premiering Friday, February 11 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy.

With Smallville wrapping up its ten year run on the CW, the show is going out with a two-hour finale, on May 13, 2011.
“Paying homage to 10 seasons is no small task, and wrapping up each character and story arc has been extremely important to everyone involved in the show,” said executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders. “We’re excited to be able to make the final moments of SMALLVILLE a television event, as the character we’ve grown up with makes his legendary transformation.”
Taking on Darkseid and battling the darkest of his demons, this two-hour event will send Clark soaring towards his birthright to secure his place in history as the world’s greatest protector.
I still need to catch up on about two years worth of episodes, but some of the shows I’ve seen recently have been pretty good.
Deadline is reporting that actor-singer Jesse McCartney has been hired to play the elder Locke child in Fox’s adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s Locke & Key series. The 22 year old actor will be playing well under his age as the high school teen who withdraws after his father’s death.
McCartney has only had a few television appearances – his most recent was on the series Greek, but many may know him from his voice over work where he’s provided voices for everyone from Theodore in the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie to Robin in the Young Justice animated series currently running on the Cartoon Network.
After seeing Spielberg’s hand in the Super 8 trailer, and now watching this trailer for the upcoming Terra Nova series, I’m starting to think the Great One has run out of ideas and is recycling his past glories.
An epic family adventure 85 million years in the making, TERRA NOVA follows an ordinary family embarking on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a daring experiment to save the human race. In the year 2149 the world is dying. The planet is overdeveloped, overcrowded and overpolluted. With no known way to reverse the damage to the planet, scientists discover a portal to prehistoric Earth. This doorway leads to an amazing world, one that allows for a last-ditch effort to save the human race…a second chance to rebuild civilization and get it right this time.
Apparently it took us 20 years to figure out that if you took all the McBain clips from The Simpsons television series, it actually makes a complete movie.

Weird coincidence, or brilliant move?
UPDATE: Looks like it was taken down… BOO!
It’s not uncommon for television series that are popular in one country to get adapted for the airwaves in another. The Office, Skins, Being Human, and Life on Mars are just a few that we took from the Brits. Likewise shows like The Big Bang Theory have been adapted for audiences in other countries, but the one that has to take the cake is Project Popcorn.
What? You’ve never heard of an American show called Project Popcorn? That’s because you probably know it better as Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Check out the intro, that seems eerily familiar, even down to the round red fox (Tom Servo) and Penguin (Crow T. Robot). Even the main character, Stepa, bears a strange resemblance to the Mike.
“The protagonist – Stepa is a guinea pig at the Institute of Brain. His mind processes the old movies the villain Professor Zamyshlyavkin. But friends – talking dog ketchup and cynical penguin Fidel always ready to joke in the most dangerous places for the psyche! Watch movies with the steppe, ketchup and Fidel – the best entertainment for fans of black humor!”
Are we as Americans going to put up with this?
Considering how the series eventually wound up, I’d say yes…
If you want to endure an entire episode of Project Popcorn, Google Videos has you covered.

This week on the show: Ding Dong the Comics Code Authority is dead! Hack/Slash is traded, The Cape is good, and Dr. Peter Coogan returns.
Show Notes after the Jump!

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Eric Martsolf (Days of Our Lives) has been hired to play Booster Gold in an upcoming episode of Smallville titled “Booster”. Joining the hero from the future will be Jaren Brandt Bartlett as Jaime Reyes, the Blue Beetle. Add to this news the rumor that Ted Kord will make an appearance in the episode as well. Geoff Johns, who is writing the episode, says Kord will be played by Sebastian Spence.
It’s really too bad, Warner Bros., DC, and the CW waited until the final two season to start rolling out other DC characters. Had they done this eight years ago, we might already have a Justice League movie in theaters.

In a late breaking, surprise move, NBC television has given the greenlight to David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman series. Earlier in the year, NBC had shown interest, but with certain execs leaving, no one would commit to the project. Now with Bob Greenblatt in place, WBTV has been given the go ahead to take the shelved project and get it into production.
The project is described as a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman — aka Diana Prince — is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.
Well… I guess it could be worse… couldn’t it?

Comedy breaks through the dramatic overtones of the third season of MERLIN with a hilarious tale of goblins, possession and coin-licking in an episode entitled “Goblin’s Gold” premiering Friday, January 21 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Syfy.
Richard Wilson, regarded as a national treasure in the UK for his comedic performances, gets the opportunity to unleash his witty talents as Gaius in “Goblin’s Gold.” In the episode, Merlin stumbles across a secret chamber and accidentally releases a Goblin. The mischievous creature possesses Merlin’s mentor Gaius, leading the once wise physician to develop a taste for gold, ale and magical jokes. With a suddenly bald King Uther and a scourge of flatulence sweeping the royal household, can Merlin work through the mystery and banish the Goblin back to where he came from before any real damage is done?
