The big trend in promoting comics has been taking a series or issue and turning it into a “Motion Comic”.  This is where the art is scanned or imported into a motion graphics application like Adobe After Effects, and then manipulated to give the illusion you are watching an animated feature.  I’ve seen some really good stuff, and I’ve seen some absolute drek. Image Comics’ imprint Shadowline is expanding the Definitive Ted McKeever collection to include McKeever’s Eisner-nominated Eddy Current story. McKeever’s EDDY CURRENT begins with its titular hero confined to an asylum until a mail-order Dynamic Fusion Suit allows him to escape and pursue his dream of saving the world. This definitive edition continues the tradition set by volume one, TRANSIT, by featuring EDDY CURRENT as never before with the complete, re-mastered story and many never or rarely seen pieces. The black and white The Definitive Ted McKeever Library, Volume 2: Eddy Current arrives December 17, 2008 and will sell for $34.99.

Shadowline, an imprint of Image Comics, has announced it will release 20 years of Ted McKeever’s work beginning this October with his first collection Transit. “To think after 20 years that I would be returning to TRANSIT is almost abstractly absurd,” said McKeever in a prepared statement. “TRANSIT had become my personal holy grail, but now, with this collected hardcover edition, I can roam free of it’s gaping wailing and allow it to scab over while I move on to new roads.” Following Transit, Shadowline will release Eddy Current and Metropol.
