If you were hoping that someday you might be able to travel through time and space, you’re going to be waiting a while.  In the meantime, check out this quarter-scale replica of the TARDIS created for a yard in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The outer posts are solid maple, the panels, rails and styles are poplar. The small trim around the windows and signs (Lexan sanded to diffuse light) are maple as well. There is a three light LED puck in the hip roof ceiling that back lights the interior. I matched the color with paint tint and brushed on the

AuctionDoctor Who

Of all the time travel television shows made, Doctor Who ranks up there as one of my favorites. As a wee lad, I had a chance to see the actual TARDIS  in person when it went on tour in the U.S.  Now the Tardis used by the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston for those keeping score) is going on the auction block next week (June 23, 2010), and could fetch between 8,000 and 12,000 Euros. A complete Tardis prop, circa 2005, of painted rasped wood panel and glass construction, the base having painted parquet effect floor, panels fastening using bracket and

Doctor Who fans, who are dying to know what the inside of the TARDIS will look like once Matt Smith comes on board, may have an answer in the above image that was snapped on location.  The backdrop is used when the Doctor and crew enter and leave the time and relative dimension in space machine to match with the actual interior set.  I like the gold and reds, and that staircase might make for some interesting moments.  I just wish we could explore the interior of the TARDIS like we got to see back in the day. via IO9.com

Matt Smith, the newly named Doctor Who, is getting quite a different deal than his predecessor David Tennant, signing a three year contract for £600,000.  The contract also gives Smith the option of signing on for an additional two years.  The new Doctor’s fee is significantly less than Tennant’s £1,000,000 a year deal, which is probably due to the slow down in the economy and little to do with the popularity of Doctor Who. Smith, who will become the eleventh Time Lord, is the youngest ever actor to play the 903-year-old doctor. Some critics branded him ‘the toddler in the

Or – “The Villain Revealed!” The mysterious man from Gallifrey known as the Doctor has fought against endless perils in the last 45 years, from Cybermen to Slitheen, from Rani to Mara to The Master and back, even against his own fashion excesses (Doctor #6, I’m looking at you…  And don’t you look too smug, either, Doctor #4.)  But the previous issue of this miniseries left us with the decided impression that the villain in question was actually the hero himself.  The phrase “I am my own worst enemy” seemed to fit the situation, but is everything really as it

IDW landed a pretty big hit with the adventures of the tenth Doctor Who, and in August fans and readers will get to see what the company can do with past Doctor incarnations.  In addition to seeing all of the old Doctors, IDW has signed Y, The Last Man artist Pia Guerra to do the work, with Tony Lee writing the six-issue mini-series. In Doctor Who: The Forgotten, Dr. Who finds himself stranded in a strange Museum that’s dedicated to him; and with no TARDIS in sight. The Doctor and Martha must make sense of their surroundings, hindered by one
