Tampa Bay Comic Con
As I’m writing this, I’ve just returned from another great Tampa Bay Comic Con! Lots of great guests, plenty of wonderful fans, terrific people selling genre-related products, and a pretty well- run con! I noticed plenty of long lines for artists, and it turned my thoughts to a certain hobby horse of mine – that writers should get more attention than they do!
It seems that just about every week in the U.S., there’s at least one comic convention going on, often two or more. Let’s face it – the money that can be made through these events has just GOT to be tremendously tempting to folks in the comics industry, particularly those who manage local shops and other organizations. Well, not only comics pros are noticing how profitable comic cons are these days. Some people with access to significant meeting space to fill are also anxious to get their facilities being used by cons as well.
This past weekend was a busy one if you attended the Tampa Bay Comic Con! It ran from Friday, July 31st, through Sunday, August 2nd. It was a good event even though it seemed somewhat smaller than last year’s convention. Here’s their website! It was held at the Tampa Convention Center, which was very near parking and hotels, making it one of the easiest to access I’ve ever attended. Once again, I was working both behind and in front of a dealer’s table. It was a great experience whatever way you looked!
