Not all of us have the physique to put on a costume and actually look like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, or Wonder Woman, but thanks to these “comfy throw blankets with sleeves” all of us can look like our favorite heroes… who spend the evening sitting on the couch.

DC Comics has announced the Nicola Scott is joining the Superman team with issue #3, and will provide art for issues #5 and #6 as well.

Over at Jim Shooter’s website, the writer has posted a series of Superman comic strips that appeared in The Chattanooga News in 1939. It’s a great look at comic book history, and worth a look.

This week, we turned to you (or more specifically, those of you who follow @MajorSpoilers) and asked for a Poll of the Week suggestion. Tweeter JayLv99 suggested pitting Mister Mxyzptlk against Bat-Mite. Two imps from the Fifth Dimension who plague Batman and Superman endlessly.
Oh, by the way, JayLv99 wins a prize from the Major Spoilers Pile O’ Stuff.

Sometimes, just sometimes, we tend to shift our gaze to women dressed in revealing clothing, or less. This one is for the ladies who want to see some hunky men. Henry Cavill was spotted on the set of The Man of Steel movie running around in the rain shirtless.

LEGO contacted us to let us know that attendees to the New York Comic Con will have a chance to get a limited run of the Superman Minifigure that will released as part of the upcoming LEGO DC Universe.
Also, if you happen to be at the show, be on the lookout for the LEGO Batcave that will be shown for the first time.

Superman has been called The Man of Tomorrow. In Superman #1, writer George Perez is focused on transforming him into the Man of Today. He’s back in his own #1 issue by virtue of DC’s new relaunch. Clark Kent is much younger than we remember, and his place in the world in and out of the costume is different in this new continuity. How successful is Perez at bringing Superman into the world of 2011? Take the jump and be prepared to share in my disappointment.

Deadline is reporting that Julia Ormond will not be playing Superman’s mother in the upcoming Man of Steel movie. Instead, it looks like Ayelet Zurer (Angels and Demons) has been cast to play Lara Lor-Van. No word on why Ormond moved on, or why Zack Snyder made the change, but Zurer is expected to start filming this week.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a costume controversy poll, so let’s have one now. While Superman #1 doesn’t arrive until next week, we have seen the new costume in action in the pages of Justice League #1. Now that you have had time to see the costume in action, do you like the new look, or do you prefer Superman to wear his skivvies on the outside?

Action Comics is one of the longest running superhero comics. That’s why DC decided to relaunch the series with a new number one this month in the hopes that the allure of a first issue will attract new readers. Matthew and Stephen took some time today to run down to their local stores (or in Stephen’s case – his comiXology account) to pick up copies for this review.
