On the Next Major Spoilers Podcast: Starman Omnibus 4

This week on the Major Spoilers Podcast, Matthew and Stephen sit down to talk up the fourth volume of the Starman Omnibus from DC Comics.

Starman Omnibus Volume 04
Writer: James Robinson
Artist: Tony Harris
The acclaimed series STARMAN, starring a Gen-X super hero from the 1990s, is re-presented in high quality format, featuring spectacular art by Eisner Award winner Tony Harris.

In this volume, Starman stands shoulder to shoulder with heroes including DC’s Captain Marvel, Batman and many others.

First, in a story set in the 1940s, Ted Knight, the original Starman, works with Captain Marvel and Bulletman to clear himself of espionage charges.

Then, back in the 1990s, young Jack Knight, the new Starman, must capture the deadly Doctor Phosphorous before embarking on a mission into space to find lost hero Will Payton. And in a never-before-collected story, Starman teams up with Batman and Hellboy to rescue his father, Ted Knight, from neo-Nazis who have tapped into a mystical power source.

On the next Major Spoilers Podcast: The Starman Omnibus Volume 2

This week on the Major Spoilers Podcast, the MSP Crew returns to Starman, and will discuss the happenings in the second Starman omnibus.

The classic super-hero series STARMAN, starring a Gen-X super-hero, is re-presented in high quality format.

The super-heroic legacy of Starman is renewed in these stories, in which Jack Knight – antiques collector and dealer – inherits the name and powers of his father’s old Starman identity from his older brother, who has been assassinated.

In this volume, Jack’s disturbing dreams drive him to New York City to meet his father’s old friend, Wesley Dodd, the Sandman of the 1940s, and learns of another Sandman – an alien who came to Earth as a hero of the 1970s.

Art Appreciation Moment of the Day: Kelsey Shannon

Lest you think this week is going to turn into Star Girl week, today’s Art Appreciation Moment of the Day jumps back to the past to find the original Star Man looking over us all.  I do like the film look on his face, and the lighting from the cosmic rod.

Review: JSA: Kingdom Come Special – Superman

Can’t let it die, can you?

kcsuperman1picon.jpg

The readership seems to be divided on the return of the Earth-22 Superman.  Some are in favor of the continuing adventures of the Kingdom Come storyline, even though the original follow up series tanked, while others are content with reliving the glory days in Absolute Editions.  With the return of Magog, and E22 Superman, is DC trying to repeat the events from one universe to the other?
