The mid-1980s was a dark time for comic books, with superheroes exploring the obsessive side of heroism and a more sadistic side of villainy. But it was that era that gave us what are now considered the classics of the comics world. One such classic? The Death of Jean DeWolff, written by Peter David. Jean was a detective in the NYPD and an admirer and comrade-in-arms of Spider-Man, and her brutal murder in 1986′s Spectacular Spider-Man #107 sent Spidey down a dark path. His investigation of the crime spiraled out of control, and more people would die before the final scene, in which he went toe-to-toe with Daredevil.

NYCC’11: Diamond Select Toys to show off Amazing Spider-Man action figure
While we all have seen pictures of Andrew Garfield in his Amazing Spider-Man costume, this weekend, those attending the New York Comic Con will get a really close look at the costume from all sides as Diamond Select Toys will be showing off the Marvel Select Amazing Spider-Man action figure.

Humberto Ramos does an amazing job on The Amazing Spider-Man series, and though I would love to see his art all over the Spider-Man books, I’ll settle for a variant cover for the upcoming Avenging Spider-Man #1 issue from Marvel.
POINT ONE: Something is happening with Spider-Man
Marvel sent another teaser image for the upcoming Point One issue. While the other images teased the Defenders, something with Ultron, and the Nova Corps., this teaser image hints that strange things are afoot with everyone’s favorite wall crawler.
