Captain America #600 back to press already

Captain America #600 hit stores on Monday (it didn’t hit my local store until Wednesday), and Marvel is already reporting the issue is a sellout.

To meet this overwhelming demand, Marvel is going back to press with Captain America #600 Second Printing Variant, from Eisner Award-winning scribe Ed Brubaker and a cavalcade of artistic superstars! How does the Marvel Universe react to the one year anniversary of Captain America’s death? What happens when Rikki Barnes meets Patriot? And just what does Sharon Carter know that leads into the hotly anticipated Captain America Reborn #1?

You can check out our review of the issue here, and if you are wanting to get the second print variant issue, take the jump for release date and full image.

Lockjaw Sells Out Too

I just don’t get Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers, nor do I understand the people that are wetting themselves over this title.  Are these the same people that thought Marvel Apes was a good idea?  In any case, Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers assembled themselves for a debut sellout, according to Marvel.  This has prompted the company to go back to press with a variant cover by Ig Guara.

The reprint arrives Juen 17, 2009.

SPAWN, the long-running superhero saga recently relaunched by series creator Todd McFarlane and fellow Image Founder Whilce Portacio, kicks off the second half of its series altering storyline ‘Endgame’ with a distribution-level sell out making way for the upcoming collection.

“Our goal is to slowly build up momentum and the sellout of issue #191 is another indication that we’re accomplishing that goal,” McFarlane said. “With a majority of our single issues out of print, the release of the first Endgame collection couldn’t be more timely.”

President Obama Makes Another Comic Book Appearance, Image Comics Ready

SD145altCOVcol.jpg

President Obama is making another appearance in Image Comics’ Savage Dragon #145.  In anticipation of the Obama-Nation queing to wait to get their hands on the issue, Image Comics is assuring readers that there will be plenty of copies available for fans.

“A lot of people have been milking the reprint game for all it’s worth by keeping their print runs tight in order to guarantee a sellout and I’d rather not engage in such tomfoolery. I want people read my comic instead of chasing after elusive back issues on eBay,” Erik Larsen said. “While we’ve gone through multiple printings on SAVAGE DRAGON #137, which featured the first cover appearance of Barack Obama back when he was a candidate, we’ve now printed more than double our expectations for sell through in order to ensure there are plenty of copies to go around. This relaunch has been years in the making and it’d be a darned shame if anyone was unable to try out the series. New fans, lapsed fans and everyone in-between can pick this issue up to jump on board the series. With an appearance by President Barack Obama – it’s the patriotic thing to do!”

Pretty sharp words from series creator who hasn’t been shy about pointing the finger at Marvel, claiming it stole his idea.

The $3.50 issue arrive February 25, 2009.

Farscape Sells Out in Five Days

01picon.jpg

Knowing it would be a hot property, Boom! Studios released its first issue of Farscape just in time to fill the holiday stocking of long time fans.  Even with two major holidays going on, the first issue by Rockne O’Bannon and Keith R.A. DeCandido sold out in just a week.

“We are tracking the unfilled re-orders carefully at the moment. But a second printing looks like it may just happen,” said Marketing and Sales Director Chip Mosher.

The series, picks up where the television mini-series The Peacekeeper Wars left off, so those who are looking to get their Farscape continuity fix on, Boom! looks to have the answer.  And while we won’t find out until next month how many copies of this issue sold, any sellout title is reason for celebrating.

Wolverine Annual Back for Second Printing

WolverineAnnual_02_Roar_Cover.jpg

I believe someone pointed this out before, but low print runs do tend to cause issues to sell out. The latest sellout issue from Marvel happens to be Wolverine Annual #2: Roar.  The company has announced it will be going back to press with a second printing, and you can get the $3.99 issue on October 29, 2008.

When Wolverine stops for a cold drink in Roamer, New Mexico he finds that a savage creature is on the loose, wanting to wipe the town off the map! And if things couldn’t get any better for Canada’s premier mutant, the creature has a roar that could destroy a man’s eardrums!  Luckily, for Wolverine, with his healing factor he can hear again after a minute…but a minute may be too long when there’s a blood thirsty creature coming after you!

ASM: New Ways To Die Sells Out in One Day

ASM568JRJR.jpgASM568ROSS.jpgASM569GRANOV.jpgASM569JRJR.jpg

Marvel has announced that Amazing Spider-Man #569 featuring the brand new storyline, New Ways To Die, has sold out Wednesday.  That’s a one-day sellout release from an issue that not only has Norman Osborn returning to Spidy comics but the return of John Romita Jr. on art.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Marvel will announce it will go back to press, but for now the company says readers should check with their local comic book shop.
