Batman: Zero Year reaches a new level as The Riddler sends Gotham City into total darkness! “Dark City” begins in this issue that features an appropriately darkened and embossed cover.
I know some fans don’t like weekly comics. “I have to go every week to my comics shop! I don’t have time for that!” a friend told me once. I responded, “But that’s the idea!”
At the recent New York Comic Con, DC Comics announced that a new year-long weekly comic starring Batman and his Bat-family called Batman Eternal is coming in April, 2004. Check out this link for more information here at MajorSpoilers!
This week on the Major Spoilers Podcast: A visit to the Airtight Garage, Batman #24, The Avengers A.I. Rocket Girl #1, and Kiss Me Satan #2. Plus, the fight to end all fights featuring some of Doctor Who’s greatest villains.
As a big, long-time Batman fan, I’m particularly fascinated by two things going on in that family of comics at DC.
There have been a few characters that have been strong enough to carry a weekly book – even if that characters appears in four regular monthly titles. Wolverine, Superman, and Spider-Man are all over the place, but apparently DC Comics thinks there’s not enough Batman in our lives, because the company announced a new weekly Batman series that arrives in the Spring.
As the Forever Evil villains event continues this month in DC, we’re learning very interesting things about the baddies, and this issue is no exception!
It does this long-time comics reader’s heart good to see Superman holding down the top position in sales as he has the last two months (and I hope he’ll do it again for August). What better way is there to celebrate the Man of Steel’s 75th birthday?
It’s the 100th episode!
This time, I have a fun conversation with J.T. Krul, who has written many excellent tales, but most recently has been working on Superman Beyond, Jirni, Soulfire and a novel! We even talk a little bit about the recent Man of Steel movie, so be sure to listen in!
Then I give brief reviews of the books I thought were great that arrived in comics shops on Wednesday, August 11, followed by the latest “News & Previews!”
Everything wraps up with a blast from the past … a portion of my interview with Scott Snyder from Episode 29 in which he discusses the life experiences that helped him become a writer and what he thinks about Batman makes him such a special character!
Next week: Episode 101!

“It must have been the worst day of your life, the day (your parents) died. Well, I mean, besides today, of course.” – Leader of the Red Hood Gang to Bruce Wayne
The aquatic dystopian epic from the minds of Scott Snyder and Sean Murphy continues, as Dr. Archer and a team of professionals are assembled to study a new marine life form—a possible merman. The team may have gotten more than they bargained though a this merman goes on a murderous rampage. Will this title float or flounder? More after the jump!
Time once again for Dueling Review, a show where two guys sit down with one comic and discuss the book in-depth.
