SDCC’12: Peter Jackson on why Comic-Con show reel won’t be 48fps

Most of us expected Peter Jackson to roll into San Diego and present a highlight reel from The Hobbit in full 48fps. Turns out those who sit through the presentation at Comic-Con are only going to see it in 24fps.

When we screened only the 48fps reel at CinemaCon a few months ago, some bloggers focussed stories, not on the content, but on their negative reaction to 10 minutes of high frame rate footage. This reaction convinced me that the only fair way to experience 48fps, is to sit down and watch a complete feature length movie, with a narrative, not quick trailer cuts.

There you go – You have to see the whole movie to appreciate the experience when The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey arrives in theaters on December 14, 2012.
