Dark Horse’s El Zombo Fantasma Head to Theaters

elzombo.jpg

Death Ray Films has teamed up with Maya Entertainment to bring Dark Horse Comics’ El Zombo Fantasma to the big screen.

The comic, published in 2005, tells the story of a murdered, temperamental Mexican wrestler who returns from his fiery damnation to play guardian angel to a troubled Los Angeles teenager. Zombo learns the teen is not what she seems and that their fates are intertwined. The character was created by David Wilkins and Munroe when they worked at a video game company. They will act as co-producers.

Oh boy, another Luchador movie!  Better yet, after the movie is released, the production companies want to turn Zombo into an animated series.

On the Next Major Spoilers Podcast: Order of the Stick

Orderofthestick_Newer.gif

This week on the Major Spoilers Podcast, the crew of Matthew, Rodrigo, and Stephen take a look at one of the most popular web comics out there – Order of the Stick.

From the Wiki

The Order of the Stick (OOTS) is a comedic webcomic that satirizes tabletop roleplaying games and medieval fantasy through the ongoing tale of the titular fellowship of heroes. The comic is written and illustrated by Rich Burlew, who creates the comic in a colorful stick figure style.

Leviticus Cross #1 Sells Out

01picon.jpg

In this day and age of low press runs and mega-comic-corps blasting out tons of issues, it’s good to see the little guy get their moment in the sun.  Hays Entertainment has announced Leviticus Cross #1 sold out at the distributor level, and went so far as to claim the second issue is outselling the first.

Rodrigo reviewed the first issue on the Major Spoilers Podcast, and it appears it is the word of mouth and marketing campaign set up by Hays Entertainment is working out for the company.

“Every retailer received a preview of all five issues,” explains Leviticus Cross creator Seth Hays. “Having the entire series completed was something we wanted to guarantee the store owners and the fans. We’re happy that our efforts are paying off and that the readers are enjoying the book.”

Issue #2 drops in January, but you can take the jump and see a sneak peek today.
