The Hunter sells out, goes back to press

Many of you know I’ve become rather cynical over the endless number of Back to Press press releases certain companies send out.  That being said, I am really interested in spreading the word on IDW’s reprinting of Darwyn Cook’s The Hunter graphic novel adaptation.  If you haven’t read this first volume, you’ll want to get your hands on the second printing when it arrives in September.

“This is a truly amazing book and one that IDW is very proud of,” said Special Projects Editor, Scott Dunbier. “Even though we aggressively overprinted the initial run, the book’s popularity is exceeding even our high hopes and we are thrilled to be on our second printing already. We encourage stores to place their reorders quickly to meet the continued demand for this great book.”

The Hunter is the first book in The Paker series, telling the story of a man betrayed by love and partners, going on a cross country quest for revenge.  It’s an engaging story in graphic form, and one that comes highly recommended.

Those who live by the sword, die by the sword

Boom! Studios was kind enough to give the Major Spoilers Crew a sneak peek at its latest series, Swordsmith Assassin #1 by Andrew Cosby and Michael Alan Nelson.  It’s a tale of love, mistakes, and revenge, and it’s a book you probably ought to get on your pull list.

Transformers on iTunes

As the new Transformers movie makes its debut overseas, IDW dropped off a note to remind us that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen can be read in digital comic form over at the iTunes app store.

“E-publishing is clearly becoming an important part of the comics world, and IDW is leading the way,” said company CEO Ted Adams in a prepared statement. “With these new apps, people who have never even been to a comic book store can now begin enjoying this great medium in a whole new way.”

The twelve new movie-related digital comics are a must-read for all TRANSFORMERS fan, setting the stage for TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, this summer’s next blockbuster film. In Alliance, readers journey across the globe as humans and AUTOBOTS join forces to defend Earth against the DECEPTICON threat. The very origins of CYBERTRON are revealed in Defiance, fully preparing fans for TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, which picks up directly where the prequel comics leave off.

I like that companies like IDW, Red 5, and Archie Comics are going for a digital distribution through Apple’s iTunes store, I just wish the screen for reading these comics were a bit bigger.

Deadpool: Suicide Kings #1-3 back to press

Marvel Comics has announced the three issues of Deadpool: Suicide Kings have sold out at the distributor level, prompting the compnay to send all of them back to press for a series of second printings (with variants).

Wade Wilson does a lot of stupid things, but it’s the one thing he didn’t do that gets him into the most trouble!  Someone tarnishes the name of this charismatic enigma and revenge is on his mind, but first he must escape a trio of Marvel powerhouses! Can Deadpool stay out of the line of fire when the Punisher, Daredevil, and Spider-Man come looking for him?  Be sure to catch the stylish art of Barberi on the cover of these interconnecting second printing variants!

All three reprints arrive on July 15, 2009 and feature a cover price of $3.99.
