Mudman is a love letter to all things cape comics. Dropping references to Superman, Spider-Man, and 2000 A.D., it should be a geek’s wet dream comic. Does the rest of the comic make for something interesting, or is just filler till the next reference? Read on to find out!

REVIEW: Mudman #1

Or – “It’s Retro, And That’s Okay, Dammit!”

In the introduction to this issue, Paul Grist says that he’s a fan of comics, “not floppies or pamphlets or any of those other slightly derogatory terms that people use to belittle the format.”  As I write these words, I haven’t gotten any further than writing this introduction, and those words alone have earned him about a star-and-a-half on my rating scale.  How will the actual story bits fare?

Churchill Covers Jack Staff

Image Comics has announced Ian Churchill will be providing the cover art to the upcoming Jack Staff #21.

“It’s a bit worrying when you let someone else play with your toys,” said series creator Paul Grist in  a prepared statement. “But Ian nailed it . Certainly get’s my vote for best Jack Staff cover of 2008!”
