The undead/creepy/bizarre toy craze has been going on for over a decade, and now that toys like Ugly Dolls, The Living Dead Dolls, and Mattel’s Monster High dolls are going strong, creators are looking for the next big thing. “My Little Pony” storybook illustrator Gayle Middleton, who in 2005 redesigned Hasbro’s Littlest Pet Shop toy line, thinks she may have found it, and is Kickstarter to launch the new line.
News of the potential Doctor Strange movie from Marvel had my curiosity take over and I headed on over to deviantART to see what the fine artist there had come up with for the character. I never expected to find this. Take the jump to see deviant user alienfirst mashup My Little Pony with characters from DC and Marvel.
The shear amount of announcements that will be coming out of San Diego this week is astounding, and this announcement from IDW has fans of the Friendship Is Magic series running to update their pull-lists.
Shout! Factory makes its mark at San Diego Comic-Con International 2012 with a dynamic line-up, featuring an exclusive panel event, a showcase of upcoming home entertainment juggernauts, Comic-Con exclusive items, daily prize sweepstakes, collectible giveaways, surprise star appearances, and interactive fan activities at the Shout! Factory booth (#3849 on the main convention floor). Fan favorite stars scheduled to attend at this time include: Tom Kenny (Marvel’s The Super Hero Squad Show, Rocko’s Modern Life, SpongeBob SquarePants), Sumalee Montano (TRANSFORMERS PRIME, ER), Josh Keaton (TRANSFORMERS PRIME, GreenLantern: The Animated Series), Tania Gunadi (TRANSFORMERS PRIME, Aaron Stone), Paul Schrier (Power Rangers), among other notables.
I’ve always had a complicated relationship with the My Little Pony franchise. I always really liked them aesthetically and spent a good deal of time trying to convince my sister to let me play with the ones she had. The ponies often became mounts for He-Man and Nien Nub, and my sister was OK with it as long as I was willing to let her play with Teela every once in a while.
But when it came to the animated shows I usually found them saccharine, trite and even disingenuous. Which was sad because I always liked the toy design. I wanted to like the show, but I just couldn’t.
What happens when you cross StarCraft2 with My Little Pony? An perfectly edited mashup that will make you question your sanity.
