FAN EXPO CANADA: JSA to return

When Dan DiDio said that the Justice Society of America was going to sit out for a while, many probably thought that meant a year or two.  We’ve learned that at Fan Expo Canada, it was confirmed by DC that the JSA would indeed return and they will bring with them one of the biggest bits of comic book history – the Multiverse.

Review: Marvel Zombies 4 #4 (of 4)

Or – “All Things Must Come To An End…”

MZ1.jpg

So, another wave of zombie madness has fallen upon the Marvel Universe, and several of Marvel’s 70′s monster heroes have united to stop them.  Of course, having inoculated themselves with the zombie virus, they could easily turn sides and eat each other, which leads to some uncomfortable conversations here and there.  Zombie Deadpool is onboard, and things are about to wrap up the hard way.  Taking bets now as to who will be standing at the end…

More information on DC’s Doc Savage series trickles out

During the Wiz World Philly DC Nation Panel, DC EIC Dan Didio gave a bit more news on the upcoming Doc Savage series coming out of the company.

Didio then revealed that DC would bring back the classic pulp hero Doc Savage via a monthly series to be written by Brian Azarello (“100 Bullets”) and drawn by Rags Morales. Morales said that the series will bring Savage into the DCU, though it will take place in an alternate universe where he will work and interact alongside such classic characters as Blackhawk and Will Eisner’s The Spirit. The world Savage lives in will also be a blend of our modern era and the classic ‘30s pulp era he comes from (“cell phones and tommy guns” as DiDio put it). No news was given about a release date yet.

Glad it is a monthly, glad it is being set on a different Multiverse Earth, glad they aren’t trying to bring back the last DC Comics Doc Savage series.

Review: Army of Darkness #18

One-shot works well

armyofdarkness18picon.jpg

While I enjoyed the last story arc of the ongoing Army of Darkness series, Dynamite Entertainment saw fit to release a one-shot story that sends Ash south of the border to fight Aztec demons, deal with butt jokes, and save the damsel in distress, or this dress, or state of undress…take your pick.  True one shot stories are rare these days (unless you have Paul Dini writing Detective Comics), so seeing Dynamite Entertainment whip one of these out is a nice treat.

Review: Superman Beyond 3D #2

WTF?  Seriously, WTF?

Yes, this image makes no sense, just like this issue

I’ve let grant morrison run amok in the DC Universe for over a year now without condemning him as a mad man. I’ve questioned his methods, his writing, and his message, but never thought of calling the men in the white coats to haul him away for a serious examination of his head. After reading Superman Beyond 3D #2, I’m looking for a nut house that has an opening.

Buffy MMO Makes Stalking Slayers Easy

Buffycast.jpg

As much as I love Charisma Carpenter, you’d never find me following her around, peeking in her windows, or other stalker activities (or at least none that would get me caught), but now, with the announcement of 20th Century Fox and The Multiverse Networks Buffy the Vampire Slayer Massively Multiplayer Online game, stalking Your Favorite Buffy Fem just got easier.

The ground-breaking MMOG will offer a new experience for gamers, allowing them to play it either as a fully immersive 3D environment or as a Flash-based 2D game, where both types of players can interact. The game will be launched  within “Multiverse Places,” a new social virtual world from Multiverse.  Currently under development, “Buffy” will go into “beta” testing later this year.

Sadly, with this announcement comes the news that the Firefly MMO is now delayed.
