Take a look at Jon Favreau’s Cowboys and Aliens

With the casting of Cowboys and Aliens wrapping up and shooting about to get underway, the first image emerges from director Jon Favreau.  It’s not much, a silhouette of “someone” dressed up in cowboy duds.  The camera test at least lets us know the Platinum Studios adaptation is really happening, and not a bunch of hype.

New Tron: Legacy trailer is here!

Disney sent us the new trailer for the new Tron movie, and it looks very cool.  Can’t wait to see this in theaters!

TRON: LEGACY is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant Qora (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Webb casting wide net for Peter Parker

Director Marc Webb, who is heading up the new Spider-Man movie, did clear up some news about certain 500 Days of High School Twilight Musical actors being cast for the reboot (prequel?).

“We’re casting a wide net. That’s really all i can say at this point,” he said, reiterating that statement when asked if an actor like rumored contender Joseph Gordon-Levitt is too old for the part, or if the studio is looking for an unknown. “We’re casting a wide net.”

That’s good news for everyone all around, I think.  Also Webb did confirm that he had talks with James Cameron about the best way to bring Spider-Man into 3D.  My guess is we’ll hear more about the Spider-Man franchise in the coming weeks.

Rachel Nichols cast in Conan film

Latino Review is reporting that Rachel Nichols has been hired to play Tamara in the upcoming Conan film.  She’ll play a warrior who teams up with Conan to rescue the Queen.

Tamara is 18 to 24 years old, Caucasian or Middle Eastern, open to all ethnicities; beautiful, studious, correct, a novitiate of a Greek influenced monastery. A master of martial arts, she has been trained to be the Queen’s servant, bodyguard and best friend. She and many other female bodyguards to the queen have been in hiding most of their lives because of the curse of Acheron, which would take the queen’s life to bring almost immortal power to its king. When Khalar Singh, a powerful warlord with ambitions to become the king of Acheron, storms the monastery and captures all of the novitiates, she is separated from Ilira, the one she must protect. With all of her strength and will, Tamara is determined to find and rescue her. She finds herself in league with Conan because of a mutual need to find Khalar Singh. She is not in the least intimidated by Conan’s size or grim demeanor and their alliance eventually blossoms into something that surprises them both… LEAD

After the flurry of casting news coming out of H’wood, it looks like this film is finally getting made, and the story looks to be shaping up nicely as well.  And if you don’t know who Rachel Nichols is, you may remember her as the Orian alien from the Star Trek movie, and G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra.
