Review: Red Tornado #2

redtornado2PICON.jpg

It seems like just a few days ago that I was surprised in my local comic shop by the first issue of DC Comics Red Tornado mini-series. At the time, I was pleased with the pacing that the issue had and the cinematic feel that the creative team had accomplished. With this second issue, I eagerly awaited more of the same. Man, I hate it when you get let down so hard.

Review: Finding Nemo: Reef Rescue #3

FindingNemo_03_PICON.jpg

With all the news that has been going on with Disney buying Marvel Comics, I thought that it would be nice to take a look at some of the Disney books that have been put out recently by Boom! Kids, who currently hold the license for several Disney and Pixar Books.  With Victoria recently reviewing the first issue of Monster’s Inc, and Stephen having reviewed the first issue of The Incredibles: Family Matters, I thought that I would take the time to review Finding Nemo: Reef Rescue #3, which was release September 10th at comic stores everywhere. Did the issue sink or swim? Read on to find out…

Review: Red Tornado #1

RedTornado_Cvr1PICON.jpg

When I walked into the comic shop last week and saw Red Tornado #1, I was rather surprised. Here was a character that I always saw in a supporting role and not really as the front and center headline type. He had been a big part of the Justice League of my early youth, was the mentor for Young Justice, and had recently been a pretty important player in some modern Justice League of America storylines.  I remembered reading the issue of Crisis on Infinite Earths where he became an elemental, as well as never being able to find a complete set on his first (and until now, only) mini-series by Kurt Busiek and Carmine Infantino back in 1985. He always seemed to be one of those characters that had enormous potential, but no one was sure what to do with it. I decided that I needed to see what was going on with him, and took the plunge. How was it? Read on to find out.

Review: Dark Tower: Fall of Gilead #4

DARKTWRV4004PICON.jpg

The Barony is under such a sustained attack from Farson’s cadres, that even the combined might of the Gunslingers crew may not be strong enough to withstand it. Meanwhile Roland Deschain is secretly released from gaol by someone who was considered unworthy to be a gunslinger but has since shown by completing several heroic actions that she has always had the full true measure of courage.

Zombies invade Victorian England

Wildstorm has announced the latest in the zombie genre – Victorian Undead.  And before you ask, yes, Sherlock Holmes is involved.

The setting? London, the year 1854. Gas lamps throw long shadows across closed storefronts; a horse-drawn carriage prattles down the cobblestone street, paying no mind to the feral children sleeping in the alley. The only sounds audible at this late-night hour are a bit of music rising from the pub on the corner and the low moan of a zombie shuffling over the sidewalk.

The six-issue mini-series will be written by Ian Edginton with art by Davide Fabbri.

Take the jump for a peak at the full cover and gruesome variant.
