REVIEW: FF #1

Or – “A Whole New Start…”

I admit to being a little bit conflicted about this new FF #1.  On the one hand, I’m totally psyched about the teaming of Fraction & Allred, about the characters at play here, and about a new wrinkle for the Future Foundation.  On the other, I’m not sure that I think FF has run its course sufficiently to need a reboot or a relaunch…  Either way, your Major Spoilers review awaits!

REVIEW: Fantastic Four #1

Or  – “I’m SO Glad To See That Short-Sleeved Uniform Is Gone…”

There is a tendency within the world of comics to want to constantly ‘one-up’ the stories that have gone before, to get more cosmic/brutal/strange/horrific with each iteration of a given title.  Nowhere is this more prominent than in the case of the Fantastic Four.  Once the hub of all activity in the Marvel Universe, the Richards family and various hangers-on are often treated as a quaint relic of the Silver Age rather than as an awesome action-adventure series.  (Of course, part of this comes from creators afraid or unable to one-up Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s original hundred-and-four issue FF canvas.)  With Jonathan Hickman exiting the book, Matt Fraction takes up the writing reins of the Fantastic ones, with some big shoes to fill.  How’s the debut issue?  Your Major Spoilers review awaits!

REVIEW: Invincible Iron Man #527

Or – “This Is The End, Beautiful Friends…”

Matt Fraction’s Iron Man has been my favorite take on the character since Mark Bright and David Michelinie completed the original Armor Wars back in the day.  (It was literally Young Zack’s lifetime ago…)  Now that Fraction and Larocca are leaving, there is the promise of yet another new Iron Man #1 on the horizon, but nobody promised that Tony Stark would actually survive to be the one in the armor, did they?  Your Major Spoilers review awaits!

SOLICITATIONS: Sex Criminals announced for 2013

Press Release

Comic book creators Matt Fraction (CASANOVA, Avengers vs. X-Men, The Invincible Iron Man) and Chip Zdarsky (Prison Funnies, Monster Cops) invite you to come with them as they release SEX CRIMINALS through Image Comics in 2013. This brand-spanking new sex comedy follows two young lovers as they go on a lust-fueled crime spree with a twist — when they have sex, time itself seems to stop. Set in a world where the laws of time and space are as dubious and mutable as the laws of man and society, SEX CRIMINALS promises to scandalize, titillate, and provoke when it bursts onto the comics scene next year.
