Captain America #600 back to press already

Captain America #600 hit stores on Monday (it didn’t hit my local store until Wednesday), and Marvel is already reporting the issue is a sellout.

To meet this overwhelming demand, Marvel is going back to press with Captain America #600 Second Printing Variant, from Eisner Award-winning scribe Ed Brubaker and a cavalcade of artistic superstars! How does the Marvel Universe react to the one year anniversary of Captain America’s death? What happens when Rikki Barnes meets Patriot? And just what does Sharon Carter know that leads into the hotly anticipated Captain America Reborn #1?

You can check out our review of the issue here, and if you are wanting to get the second print variant issue, take the jump for release date and full image.

Review: Mighty Avengers #25

MIGHTAVN25_PIC.jpg

For pity’s sake, will you all just leave Henry Jonathan Pym alone! He has been around for close on half a century now and he has never, ever had a fair shake from anyone. We all know and appreciate that Stan’s winning formula was to put all of his heroes through an emotional mill, but Hank seems to be the dog that everyone likes to kick and I’m getting totally sick of it.

Marvel Divas Announced

Mycup14_MarvelDivas.jpg

“I hear DC has Gotham City Sirens coming out in June…”

“Oh yeah?”

“Yup.”

“I bet we can top ‘em with Marvel Divas…”

I’m not sure that’s exactly how the conversation went down at Marvel went when this series was dreamed up, but the duo of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning hype it up on this week’s My Cup of Joe.

In case you missed Marvel’s last major event — and by last I mean most recent event, and not final event — Secret Invasion is back in a slew of trade paperbacks so you can finally join in on all the talk around the water cooler about the series that lead to the current state of affairs in the Marvel universe with Norman Osborne in charge.

“We’re very appreciative of the unprecedented support from retailers, fans and the press for Secret Invasion,” said David Gabriel, Marvel Senior Vice President of Sales & Circulation. “With the recent announcement of Secret Invasion Black Panther and Runaways/Young Avengers making the New York Times Graphic Books Best Sellers List, we thought this would be a good time to remind fans of the affordable packages we have available for them to catch the stories they might have missed, while also alerting new fans of a way to discover what led to Dark Reign.”

Sixteen trades are already available, with fifteen more on the way between now and June. Take the jump for the complete list, so you have all the background you need (hint: the Earth wins).

Happy President’s Day

ASMBOPRODIG001_COVER_1.jpg

To celebrate the holiday, Marvel is releasing a free digital comic featuring Captain America and Spider-Man at the Gettysburg Address.  This digital comic arrives hot on the heels of The Amazing Spider-Man #583, where Spider-Man met President Obama.

“We were completely blown away by the overwhelming response to the Spidey Meets the President storyline.  Comic book shops have not been able to keep it on shelves, so we thought it would a fitting way to celebrate President’s Day by offering free online access to all fans to view and read the storyline – including some exclusive new content – only at Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited,” says Dan Buckley, President of Marvel Publishing.  “And in celebration of President Lincoln’s historic Bicentennial, we could think of no better tribute in the Marvel Universe than to have Spider-Man and Cap honoring one of his enduring legacies, the Gettysburg Address.”

While the “Gettysburg Distress” issue is free, users will need to create an account to access the content.  I wonder when Marvel will release Spider-Man meets Nixon, or the super-secret Wolverine/Jimmy Carter crossover issue.
