While we have been patiently waiting for the Mars Attacks: Invasion set to come out (apparently it arrives on Friday), we have been keeping our head to the ground on cool additions Steve Jackson Games might be adding to make cheating even easier. We learned this morning that indeed there is a card that will do that, but you are going to have to be very lucky to get it.
IDW Limited announced plans for interstellar domination today, beginning with the Mars Attacks: Attack from Space Limited-Edition Hardcover (http://idwlimited.com/series/mars-attacks.html ). The book collects the first five issues of the popular IDW comic series. Drawing on the rich card-based history by Topps, each of these highly collectible and rare books will be paired with hand-drawn sketch cards from a wide variety of artists, ranging from fine-art gallery painters to comic-book and trading-card artists. All of the sketch cards are official Mars Attacks sketch cards provided by Topps, and foil stamped exclusively for this limited-edition release.
Step on up and place your bets, folks! An army of angry green men bent on galactic conquest have landed in Mega-City One, but they didn’t count on the grizzled lawmaking legend of Judge Dredd standing in their way.
It’s no secret that earthlings love Mars Attacks. Topps’ crazed galactic conquerors have journeyed from the red planet to terrorize comics, trading cards, and Hollywood; but one medium has been left conspicuously uninvaded: classic literature!
Or – “Where’s The Phantom Of The Park?”
I am a real sucker for comic books featuring KISS. Maybe it’s just that Gene and his pals have created iconic comics-style images for their stage personas, maybe it’s a matter of loving the old Steve Gerber-penned Marvel Super-Specials, but I can seldom withstand the allure of the Fearsome Foursome in comic form. Add in the bonus of Martian monsters on parade, and you’ve got yourself one guaranteed sale. Will the book hold up to my expectations? Your Major Spoilers review awaits!
This week, Stephen and Matthew have a laugh and a grin while they review Mars Attacks Popeye from IDW Publishing.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Mars Attacks! franchise has returned in spectacular fashion in the form of a new trading card set, t-shirts, statues, and this comic series from IDW. While the Tim Burton movie of the same name had its merits, you won’t find Burton’s sense of humor here…No bowling on Easter Island, no knocking national landmarks onto Boy Scouts, and not a single syllable of Slim Whitman. Rather, Layman’s series focuses on the gore, spectacle, and flat-out weird events that the original card series was so controversial for. Check out the review for more!
