MARKET SHARE: Top 300 Comics for September 2012

Last week, we let you in on the news that DC topped the month ranking in the top spot for both the dollar and unit share. Though the company didn’t get the top selling comic for the month, it did dominate the charts, and today we have a rundown of the Top 300 Comics in the Direct Market for September 2012.

MARKET SHARE: DC leading publisher for August

Diamond Comic Distributors has announced that DC Comics lead the direct market in terms of dollars made during the month of August 2012, with Marvel barely edging out DC in terms of copies sold.  So once again, the month is split with each of the major publishers getting a chance to strut and crow about their achievement.

MARKET SHARE: Top 300 Comics for July 2012

Diamond Comic Distributors has released the complete list of the top 300 comics sold in the direct market during July 2012.  As mentioned previously, The Walking Dead took the top spot, with DC claiming the most titles in the top ten.

MARKET WATCH: DC take Top Ten, Marvel tops the month

For the next year we may see a lot of headlines like the one above as DC and Marvel battle for number one. This month, Marvel once again took the top spot earning the most money and selling the most product. While that may make some feel superior, when one looks at the Top Ten Titles Sold in the Direct Market, the picture is quite different as DC places seven titles in the Top Ten.

Diamond Comic Distributors have released the first round of market share data for April 2012.  Marvel once again climbed to the top, nabbing both the dollar and market share spots.  This is interesting because DC Comics placed six titles in the top ten comics sold in the direct market.
