Here’s a bit of breaking news – Natalie Portman has just been signed to appear in the upcoming Thor movie directed by Kenneth Branagh. Portman will be playing Jane Foster, love interest to the Norse god. From the Wiki At first she was a nurse for Donald Blake, eventually developing feelings for him, not knowing that Blake and Thor were one and the same. The love triangle went on for a while, until Thor revealed his secret identity to Jane, and in return even took her to Asgard with him. There, Jane was briefly granted immortality and the power of

I’m digging the way networks are dealing the with the summer season. Instead of being inundated with rerun after rerun (hey, hey, hey hey!), we get a heaping serving of new shows. Last week, Burn Notice returned to the USA Network, and those that dig on vampires should have their appetite satiated following last nights series return. But what about other shows? Take the jump to read a quick rundown of the rumors surfacing about a possible new Time Lord appearance in Doctor Who, Eureka gets a new girl, and a possible lesbian relationship on Heroes.
Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, and current owner of Topps, picked up the rights to to adapt the bubblegum comic strip Bazooka Joe into a feature film. Writing the movie will be Mark Hammer, not to be confused with Mike Hammer, who apparently graduated from college this past week. “Bazooka Joe” has been a comic strip used as an advertising device for the gum since the 1950s. Joe, who wears an eye patch for reasons never explained, has child-friendly misadventures, sometime joined by a host of friends with the names Pesty, Mort (always with a turtleneck sweater pulled up over
Enter Bizorro As Zorro continues to protect the lands and citizens of California from tyrannical officials, a plot to bring the masked vigilante down begins to form, as another thrilling adventure of Senor Zorro arrives from Dynamite Entertainment. Only twelve issue in, and it is easy to see why so many are digging this series.
Yes, the Friday link baiting worked, as more people continue to discover Major Spoilers through their non-stop searching for all things Megan Fox. Since we really need to keep this exploitation on topic (just like we did on Friday, right?), here’s a peek of Megan Fox on the set of Jonah Hex. Granted we don’t know what she’s wearing under that bath robe, the saloon girl boots, garter, and choker, should give you some idea. Fox plays Leila, a love interest for Josh Brolin’s Hex. More photos over at I Don’t Like You In That Way.
The Hollywood Reporter has Transformers hottie Megan Fox signing up to co-star in two additional comic book adaptations. First up is Jonah Hex, where she’ll star opposite Josh Brolin in the DC western. In “Hex,” being directed by Jimmy Hayward, Fox will play Leila, a gun-wielding beauty and love interest of Hex (Brolin), a scarred bounty hunter tracking a voodoo practitioner (Malkovich) who wants to raise an army of undead to liberate the South. Then there is the continuing talk of Fox playing the title character in Aspen Comics’ Fathom, created by Michael Turner. Fox certainly has the build to
Why haven’t we seen any more Lara Croft: Tomb Raider movies in a while? The rights reverted back to game creator Eidos a few years ago and apparently there has been a bidding war over which studio would pick up the franchise. The Hollywood Reporter is noting Time Warner invested more money into the game company, which included the film rights. Now the studio is trying to put something together for the next generation of movie goers. The new project, however, is expected to revamp the character and her mission and bear little resemblance to the original pictures. It will
A little family time is good for the soul Supergirl had a pretty rough time when Darkseid’s psycho groupie showed up on Earth looking to kill Superman. Had Kal-El not arrived in time, Kara might have found herself on the receiving end of the icy cold fingers of death. Instead Maelstrom was sent packing back to Apocalypse, leading Clark to think it would be a good idea to do a little cousin bonding.
Yesterday I posted the lead character in Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass series (Dave Lizewski) has been cast, and today, the news is official with Matthew Vaughn announcing Aaron Johnson will play the dweeb with a death wish. Also cast in the flick are Lyndsy Fonseca as Dave’s love interest, and Nicolas Cage as a former cop who trains his daughter (Chloe Moretz) to bring down a druglord. Vaughn and Marv Films partner Kris Thykier are really gathering the cast quickly as they plan for the fall shoot. via THR
Red, the three-issue Warren Ellis graphic novel, is set to make its way to the big screen, thanks to a deal by Summit Entertainment. The three-issue comic series, published in 2003, told the story of a former black-ops CIA agent now living a quiet life in retirement until the day a high-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him. With his secret identity compromised and his love interest in danger, the man must reassemble his old team to figure out who is out to get them. The book was written by Warren Ellis, whose comic “Ocean” is set up at
Word around H’wood this morning is that Mary Elizabeth Winstead (the cheerleader in Death Proof) is in negotiations to play the love interest of one Michael Cera in the big screen adaptation of Oni Press’ Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film is only adapting the first volume of the Scott Pilgrim saga, and not the entire run (of which only four have been released). As much as I really enjoy reading the adventures of Scott Pilgrim, I wonder how some of the material will translate (or not translate to the big screen) – especially
