Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to the upcoming Capeshooters comic book by Rob Liefeld. In “Capeshooters,” two slackers become paparazzi who specialize in shooting covert videos of superheroes find themselves on the run after they stumble onto evidence that a revered superhero is actually a villain. Seems like an interesting take, although it does seem like that premise has been done before. Bryan Singer’s Bad Hat Harry Productions will produce the adaptation, however while this looks like a films rights deal, BHH produces a lot of television series, so it wouldn’t surprise me if this landed on the WB
Nerdtacular II: The Dark Knight! Check out my fat face in this diary entry. [quicktime]http://www.majorspoilers.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07a/nerdtaculardiary1.mov[/quicktime] I’ve got my HD camera with me today, and I plan on capturing a lot of the festivities, we’ll see if I get around to posting that video – I promise I won’t be in it the next time (wink). Did you attend the Nerdtacular event? Did you see Dark Knight? What are your thoughts.
Check out this trailer for the upcoming 128-page graphic novel Minions of Ka being put out by Silent Devil Productions and Arcana Studios in late August/early September. Does that voice sound familiar? That’s Danny Aiello. “This is a very exciting, innovative project,” said co-creator/writer Michael Furno, “I think people are going to be very surprised when they see the things we’re doing. It’s a fresh new look on zombies. We create a whole new world by challenging a lot of preconceived notions. I think people are going to be blown away.”
If you were wetting yourself in anticipation of Jeff Smith’s RASL #2 arriving next week, your bladder is in luck as the book arrives a week early – hitting stores today. Don’t forget that RASL is for mature readers. I’m actually printing that on the book this time because at the last few events I’ve attended (BONE & BEYOND at the Wexner Center, and Book Expo America) a lot of parents and librarians were picking up copies of RASL for their kids. I thought I’d done enough interviews over the last year to spread the word about the more grown-up
Top Cow Productions has announced Jorge Lucas will take over the art duties for issues #7 and #8 of The Darkness. “I’m looking forward to working on The Darkness because he is my favorite Top Cow character,†said Lucas, who remembers reading The Darkness issues in Spanish in Argentina, where he still makes his home. “I like the horror genre a lot, and the darker the character, the better. Jackie Estacado is a soul tortured by his demons, a cursed being, and I love this about him.†Take the jump for the cover and a two page sneak peek of
Bwah? Skaar: Son of Hulk #1 does arrive in stores today, but I’m going to bet if you take this birth certificate to your local Social Security Office (it’s one of those weird U.S. things that have a lot of promise, but will never pay off for my generation), I’m going to bet you get your butt hauled off to jail. via Marvel
Still stuck in the past, eh? The crew from the Runaways better get back in time for their major motion picture debut, or a lot of people are going to be really confused. In Runaways #30, Joss Whedon concludes his run on the series, and things get interesting. Marvel Comics has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of the issue that arrives June 25, 2008.
DeviantArt is a great place to find works by the talented (and not so talented) artists of the world. Fortunately, “Jolly Jack” falls into the talented category and scores bonus points for the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull dig. What is it about George Lucas’ ability to create a character(s) that bring up so much hate per generation? Be it Admiral Ackbar, Jar-Jar Binks, Howard the Duck (admittedly not created by Lucas, but destroyed by him none-the-less), and now CG Gophers, Lucas has done wonders in getting the fanboy community to stop fighting amongst themselves over
I received the following email last night from Lt. Jim Gordon of the Gotham City Police Department. With the events spiraling out of last week’s hostage situation involving Harvey Dent, there is a lot of back story viewers of The Dark Knight might need to know to fully appreciate the upcoming flick. My friend, Indictments are about to be handed down. If you don’t want your name on one, we’ll need your full cooperation in an upcoming operation. In case you haven’t heard, we are struggling with a bit of corruption in the department. I’m not about to let the
