Yogi Bear is the latest in an seemingly endless stream of movies that will mesh live action with CGI characters ala Scooby-Doo. Eric Brevig is directing the script written by Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia based on the Hanna-Barbera series from the 1960′s.  As you might expect Yogi and side-kick Boo Boo will menace Jellystone Park and Ranger Smith in the search for picnic baskets. Expect a bunch of silliness when the movie hits December 17, 2010.

Overlook Promises to Rob, Kill and Maim

Press Release
Image Comics’ Shadowline makes sure crime fans of comics like SIN CITY and CRIMINAL have it good this April as writer Joshua Williamson and artist Alejandro Aragon introduce them to the hard-boiled noir of OVERLOOK!
“OVERLOOK takes everything I love about crime novels, movies and comics and distills them into three issues of some of the most brutal comics I’ve ever written,” Williamson said. “Even better, Alejandro completely mastered conveying OVERLOOK’s beautifully twisted noir with only his brush to help him. I cannot believe some of the things we’re getting away with in this book. My fellow crime fans will be most pleased.”
In the town of OVERLOOK, a dirty prize-fighter by the name of Mickey “The Nickel” Nicholson will do anything for a buck. Mickey is hired by one of OVERLOOK’s most notorious mobsters to infiltrate an underground boxing outfit and find a massive stash of stolen “rainy day” money and kill the wayward wife responsible. In return, a target of Mickey’s choice will be assassinated by the mobster, no strings attached. It’s the deal of the century, but like any deal in OVERLOOK, there’s much more than you could ever bargain for.
OVERLOOK #1 (FEB092436), a 32-page black and white three issue mini-series for $3.50, will be in stores April 8th.
Johnny Monster Destroys All Monsters

Press Release
25 November 2008 (Berkeley, CA)Â – This February, the world’s most popular monster hunter confronts the past he fought so hard to forget in Image Comics Shadowline’s JOHNNY MONSTER!
“Even the best action movie only works because it has heart and JOHNNY MONSTER has it in droves,” Shadowline Publisher Jim Valentino said. “While loaded with enough giant monster showdowns to make any fan happy, the core of the book is writer Joshua Williamson and artist J.C. Grande fleshing out what may be my new favorite character of the year! The whole Shadowline team hopes to see JOHNNY MONSTER return in the future!”
JOHNNY MONSTER made himself a household name by hunting the monsters who stalk the Earth. However, nobody knows he was raised by the same monsters he’s been after. Unfortunately for Johnny, no secret stays quiet forever. However, he won’t be alone as Image Comics’ other monster-man, FIREBREATHER, appears courtesy of creators Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn! The entire three-issue mini-series mixes pulp adventure with the best monster movies cinema has to offer to create a compelling and very different monster mashup!

Journey Collected in Trade
IDW Publishing has announced it will be collecting the 31-issue series Jorney into multiple trades. The first volume collecting issues 1-16 will arrive in stores this August. The tale is set in the 19th century and follows the adventures of Joshua “Wolverine” McAlistaire.
Journey takes place as America recovers from the Revolution and braces for the upheaval of the War of 1812. The result is an absorbing account of life on the 19th century frontier—sometimes fantastic, such as when McAlistaire gets a free ride on a tornado, and sometimes harshly realistic (when he gets chased by a hungry black bear). McAlistaire endures every imaginable hazard, encountering Indians, German poets, Sasquatch, and even talking spirits of the long dead.
“I tried to give a funny, serious, realistic and surreal take on the era,†said Mr. Messner-Loebs in a prepared press release. “My feeling was life is all those things and as a comic reflects that the reader is drawn into it. A spy story needs to be tightly plotted; a frontier saga, or my frontier saga at any rate, should have as little conventional plot as possible. Since the land beyond civilization is freeform, the story you tell should reflect that. I had homesteaded along the Canadian border in Maine for a year and I tried to get the things I had experienced there into the story. I think I got a little serious and complicated towards the end. Of course I was drawing it in hospitals, waiting for both my mother and my wife to die.â€
