Having defeated slowed the Followers of Cain from taking over Gotham City, there is little to keep Jonah Hex in the city. But Gotham doesn’t seem to want to let Hex go, and Hex is once again in the deep and smelly stuff this issue.

I’ve been back and forth on Jonah Hex since its return some 68 issues ago, but I do know I’m excited to see what happens in All-Star Western #1 that features Hex arriving in Gotham City in the 1800s.
In ALL-STAR WESTERN #1, Jonah Hex is enlisted to help the Gotham Police Department solve the mystery of a vicious serial killer. “So much for Gotham being a one-horse town. Look at that dazzling city in the late 1800’s meticulously researched and brought to life by Moritat. Hex fans, you can relax. We’re not going to abandon seventy issues of dedication and love for the ugly bounty hunter,” co-writer Justin Gray told us.

When creators leave a series, there are two possibilities – the series goes out with a bang with everything wrapped up in a tidy bow, or every plot point and story line leaves the readers hanging as they are never resolved. As Palmiotti, Gray, and Conner prepare to depart Power Girl, they leave the reader with a really good feeling.

It’s the climax of the two part story arc that started on a distant planet, but ends up with Power Girl and Vartox getting hot and sweaty together, only then do they dine on a fine sausage before impregnating an entire planet. All in a day’s work…
