REVIEW: Avengers – The Children’s Crusade #8 (of 9)

Or – “Roger Daltrey Called:  The Kids Are Definitely NOT Alright…”

The first issue of this miniseries came out in 2010, and this penultimate issue is actually dated 2012.  While I like the fact that the bi-monthly status allows the creators to work to their usual standards, I’m bothered by the continuity of how this all breaks down.  After all, this story began before Schism, before Fear Itself, before Spider-Island, before even the end of the Brightest Day, much less the new DCU.  With my notorious tendency to worry about WHEN an issue takes place, I hope that this one is engaging enough to make me forget all that stuff…

The Secret Warriors infiltrate the Thunderbolts

While not a huge crossover event, Secret Warriors #7 and #8 are crossing over into issues #135 and #136 of the Thunderbolts series as Nick Fury takes the fight to Norman Osborn.

Editor Bill Rosemann explained, “Nick Fury vs. Norman Osborn? The Secret Warriors vs. the Thunderbolts? Andy Diggle and Jonathan Hickman trying to one-up one another? Miguel Sepulveda and Alessandro Vitti out for blood? Something tells me this is going to get messy”

NYCC’09: Marvel Signing and Panel Schedule

Marvel Unveils FCBD Title and Cover

Marvel has announced it will release The Avengers by Brian Michael Bendis and Jim Cheung on Free Comic Book Day coming up May 2, 2009.  The FCBD edition will feature a new story that ties into the goings on in the rest of the Marvel Universe.

Marvel Sneak Peek: Ender’s Shadow: Battle School #1

MegaCon Announces Guest Lineup

It’s still several months away, but The Orlando MegaCon has released its initial list of guests for the 2009 convention.

Legendary artist George Pérez will be the Special Guest of Honor at MegaCon 2009. In a 30+ year career in comics, George has illustrated Avengers, Fantastic Four, JLA, Wonder Woman, and a host of other seminal comics titles. He is hard at work on his next project from DC Comics, Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds. This will be George’s first scheduled convention appearance in over a year, as he took 2008 off the convention circuit.
