This week on the Major Spoilers Podcast: Smoke and Ashes, Code Name Action, Resident Alien, and Brain Boy!
Last week I talked about the hubbub resulting from Ben Affleck being chosen to play Batman/Bruce Wayne. Since then, Marvel Studios announced that actor James Spader had been selected to play Ultron in the second Avengers film. The outrage was, shall we say, silent by comparison.
I’ve been wondering what fans would have thought if, before Warner Bros. could sign Affleck to be Batman, he had been signed by Marvel to play Ultron instead. Ultfleck instead of Batfleck! Would the screaming have been as loud? In a word, the answer is clearly: No. Why is this?
Though the week ended on a major holiday, and Dragon Con took the attention of many, there’s still a lot to talk about in all the stories that hit the web this past week.
EW is reporting that James Spader has been signed to play Ultron for Avengers: Age of Ultron, the sequel to last years Avengers film. Now speculation is running on whether he’ll just be the voice of Ultron, or if Spader will be doing motion capture like Mark Ruffalo and Vin Diesel do for Hulk and Groot. Joss Whedon had made the announcement himself and you can see more of what he had to say after the jump.
According to the USA Today, Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan are once again teaming up to bring the metal bikini clad red haired she-devil with a swoard to the big screen.
“I was surprised when Rose brought me a script of Red Sonja that she liked,” Rodriguez says from his home base of Austin, where he is shooting Shorts, a family film with James Spader and Jon Cryer. “I found it very entertaining. Sonja was strong, smart, cunning — just about everything she’d have to be to survive.”
Thankfully, Rodriguez and McGowan are using material from the comics and from the works of Robert E. Howard, and are steering clear for the first Red Sonja movie.
Robert E. Howard…we might have something on that soon…
