COMICS: Robinson Leaves Earth 2

James Robinson will no longer be writing Earth 2 after issue #16. He announced the leave on Twitter yesterday, along with an announcement of his full departure from DC’s writing stable. His words exactly.

So as of today I am leaving Earth 2 with Issue #16. It’s been a blast. Man, it’s a lovely day. Think I’ll take Rex to the beach.
Yes, this also means I’m no longer working at DC Comics. Best wishes and regards to Dan, Geoff and everyone.

Personally, I was thoroughly enjoying Earth 2 and am sad to see him go, but this at least feels a bit more amicable than most of the recent DC partings. Issue #16 will be in stores in October.

REVIEW: Earth-2 #11

Welcome to Earth 2, a new universe where old Golden Age heroes are revamped for the modern era. Over the past ten issues, DC Comics has gradually reintroduced classic heroes and villains into this universe. Without Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman to look after them, these superheroes have branched out on their own. However, with the return of Steppenwolf, do they have the strength to take on Apokolips?

COMICS PORTAL: A New Batman Coming to Earth 2

Editor’s Note: Major Spoilers is happy to welcome Wayne Hall to the writing staff. Every Monday, Comics Portal presents Wayne’s thoughts on a comic event from the week before.

Without further ado, Comics Portal!

It’s important to know that I’m a big Batman fan. I’ve been following the Dark Knight since the first comic I ever read, which had Batman in England flying around a castle! Even as a kid, I remember thinking, “Wow! I have to read more of this!” Thus a lifelong passion was born!

REVIEW: Earth 2 #6

Earth 2 is everything readers expect from the new 52: New original storyline, a diverse group of revamped modern characters, and no interference from the big three—Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman— because… they’re dead. With a looming threat planning to destroy their world, can this new generation of heroes unite to stop it?

REVIEW: DC Universe Presents #0

Or – “Their Stories Continue, Even If Their Books Tanked…”

Many years ago, I came to the sad conclusion that my favorite titles won’t ever be big sellers with the general public.  Because of that sad paradigm, it came to be that I was reading and enjoying roughly 60% of the cancelled product of the New 52 thus far.  Although I didn’t read much beyond the first issue of Blackhawks, I appreciated their pedigree, and I have to say that it’s good to see O.M.A.C., Mister Terrific and Deadman again.  Your Major Spoilers review awaits!

Oh, and Hawk & Dove are also in this issue.

REVIEW: Earth 2 #0

Earth 2 re-envisions classic Golden Age superheroes into the modern era. More importantly, the comic explores a DC universe without the Trinity (Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman). With the Big Three dead, which new superheroes will rise from the ashes of war?

REVIEW: The Shade #5 (of 12)

Or – “In Which We Learn How A Creature Of Living Shadow Is A Grandfather…”

The path from Victorian neer-do-well to undying creature of shadow has been a long one for Richard Swift.  For all the tales James Robinson has told of the Shade’s century-and-a-half of life, we’ve never seen the moment where the balance between flesh and shadow turned irrevocably to the side of darkness…

…until now.
