Dynamite Entertainment is bringing Vampirella back in November, and they’ve tapped Eric Trautmann to write the tale of Vampirella on the trail of Vlad Dracula.
“It’s a genuine pleasure to be adding to the ‘legend’ of Vampirella,” says writer Eric Trautmann. “There’s a long roster of talented creators – Forrest Ackerman, Archie Goodwin, Kurt Busiek, Warren Ellis, James Robinson, Grant Morrison to name just a few – have cast a long shadow over Vampirella. It’s an honor to be able to add to that long, rich history, and add some of my own peculiar brand of weirdness to it all. I think people will be really surprised by Wagner’s work; he brings a real sense of realism and danger to the page, and manages to create a sexy, intelligent, dangerous Vampirella. Dynamite has been very welcoming, and the experience of working with them has been tremendous fun, and hopefully that translates to the printed page.”
The interior art is by Wagner Reis, though you’ll want to take the jump to see the J. Scott Campbell cover.

This week the Kevin Smith Green Hornet screenplay gets turned into a comic book (I hope you bought your copy), and I thought it fitting to dig up J. Scott Campbell’s cover to run as today’s Art Appreciation Moment of the Day.

I’m a big fan of those who can make something stunning with a single color. And if the subject is Jessica Rabbit, then red is the color to use.

From a young age, I’ve been taken by the art style in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. One of the first movie to be filmed in Technirama Widescreen, and the last fairy tale movie produced by Walt Disney himself. I was always more of a Princess Aurora fan myself, and never really thought much of the evil Maleficent. That is until J. Scott Campbell whipped up today’s installment of the Art Appreciation Moment of the Day.
Zenescope Entertainment has been publishing some of the more popular and best-selling independent titles over the past few years. The Grimm Fairy Tales universe in particular has caught the comic world by storm with not only the flagship title but its spin-off titles such as Return To Wonderland, Beyond Wonderland and The Piper.  And now the publisher is releasing its newest Grimm Fairy Tales mini-series entitled NEVERLAND. The story reinvents the Peter Pan mythology as fantasy, horror and action. It’s a merging of genres that Zenescope has done extremely well since its inception in 2005. This version of Neverland follows main characters Cross and Wendy as they journey into the mystical realm in order to save Wendy’s nephews from the evil and demonic being known only as Pan.
