Greg Capullo covers Image United

Image Comics announced Greg Capullo is providing a one-time variant cover featuring Omega Spawn for the Image United event.

“When it came time to choose an artist for our next guest variant, Greg Capullo was the first guy who came to mind,” Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson said. “From his early days following Todd on SPAWN to his creator-owned series CREECH and his work on HAUNT, Greg has become nearly as synonymous with Image Comics as any of the founders. Besides that, he’s also a phenomenal cover artist in his own right. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

Retailers can order as many of the color variants as they want, but Image has also announced a 1:100 black and white version for those retailers who qualify.  So, if you want to take a trip back down 1990s way, you might want to pester your local comic shop for one of these.

Image United Sells Out

IMAGE UNITED, the six-part crossover featuring Image Founders Erik Larsen, Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane, Whilce Portacio, Marc Silvestri and Jim Valentino, made its debut today with a near-immediate sellout at the distribution-level.

“As soon as I held IMAGE UNITED in my hand, I just knew these would go,” said Marc Nathan, owner of Reisterstown, MD’s Cards Comics & Collectibles and Promoter of the Baltimore Comic Con. “You just knew the covers were going to go. It was perfectly smart on Image’s part to put them out this weekend – the best shopping week of the year. Everyone is coming to this weekend to shop, so you know people will be coming back for #2.”
