Nathan Petrelli out of Heroes

Well, you’ve known that for a while now, haven’t you? The elder Petrelli brother had his throat slit at the end of last season by Sylar, and actor Adrian Pasdar continued to appear on the show as Sylar took on his appearance.

TV Guide has confirmed that Adrian Pasdar has been official released from the show since Nathan was last seen shot and buried in a hole in the ground.

Of course Heroes is supposed to be a super hero show, and we’ve all seen how permanent deaths are in comics.

NBC set to roll out more caped crusader television?

NBC is already at work on pilots for the upcoming year, and one that just might make the cut is The Cape.  Instead of going the Heroes route and taking a look at the super powered beings, The Cape looks at an everyday Joe, who dons a mask to fight crime.

It centers on a former cop framed for a crime he didn’t commit who becomes the Cape, a masked hero, to clear his name and reunite with his son. Set in Jefferson City — a Los Angeles-type city where corrupt private industries are taking over everything.

The Cape is currently in active development.  What say you The Legion of Major Spoilers, will a show like this fly, or sink?  Shout out in the comment section below, and maybe, just maybe NBC Uni will be take your comments to heart.

Review: Heroes: Season 4.1

To start off this review, I’m going to be perfectly honest with you all: while I have watched every episode of Heroes’ 3+ seasons, bought the graphic novels, and grown attached to a few of the characters, I haven’t been 100% for the show. Like many of you (I’m assuming), I was about to give out on the show halfway through the show’s second season. At the half season break last year, I stopped recording the show. I don’t know. It stopped connecting with me I guess. Despite all this, I stuck with Heroes, more on the principle need to see a superhero show that doesn’t start with “Small” or end with “Ville” succeed. I’ve been there through all the ups and downs, which, to be honest makes the Alps look like a dirt mound. With the series starting up with a kind of “clean slate,” I decided to let go of my past opinions of Heroes, and look at this show with a fresh eye. Hopefully, this season can recapture that same spark from its inaugural season, but only time will tell.

Guy Ritchie to direct Lobo

I really never expected Lobo to be made into a movie before The Flash or Wonder Woman, but apparently that’s what the execs at Warner Bros. think is going to sell to the kids these days.  To sweeten the deal, the studio has even signed Snatch director Guy Ritchie to helm the DC Comics adaptation.

Lobo was meant to serve as a parody of violent heroes such as Wolverine and the Punisher, with his stories featuring a nihilistic streak tinged with dark comedy and excessive violence.

No word on release date, cast members and the like.  Some of you may remember a now defunct Virgin Comics which had also signed Ritchie up to direct the movie adaptation of The Gamekeeper, and we see where that is in development.

Ernie Hudson joins Heroes

If you were wondering what Ernie Hudson has been doing since HBO’s OZ ended, the answer seemed pretty boring until the announcement that the actor is joining NBC’s Heroes this season.  The storyline is being kept under wraps, but we have learned that Hudson will play Captain Lubbock, a Baltimore detective.

The upcoming fourth season of “Heroes” introduces a major new mythology about a traveling carnival of people with special powers run by a charismatic but evil Earth-moving ringleader (Robert Knepper).

And let’s not forget the potential girl loves girl storyline with that Hayden girl.

The Great Ten arrives in November from DC

After their appearance in 52, the Great Ten have been scarce, showing up occasionally in Checkmate, but otherwise keeping their hero antics in their home country.  In November DC Comics will release a 10-issue mini-series putting the Great Ten in the spotlight.

Take the jump for the full, spectacular cover by Stanley “Artgerm” Lau and more info on the series.

G.I. Joe wins the other half of the battle – The box office

It should come as no surprise to find out that G.I. Joe took the number one spot at the box office this weekend, bringing in $100.3 million worldwide.  This is one of the biggest openings for a movie opening in August.  The movie brought in the young male demographic as expected, but it also brought in a fair number of families eager to check out the Hasbro action figures gone movie heroes.

As expected, the strong opening weekend, has prompted Paramount to order a follow up sequel.
