The first-ever full artwork of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird – the illustration that launched one of the most successful character franchises in history – sold for $71,700 on Friday, May 11, at Heritage Auctions in Dallas as part of a Vintage Comics & Comic Art Auction. It sold to an anonymous buyer.
Heritage Auctions has been very busy lately with a slew of rare and in good condition comic books that have sold for a large amount of money. The most recent is a CGC-graded 9.2 copy of Batman #1 that sold in a private transaction for $850,000.

Heritage Auctions continues to tantalize comic book fans with fantastic art offerings this month. First it was Calvin and Hobbes, and now we learn that the auction site has nabbed the original cover artwork for The Absolute Dark Knight collection, and the other is the Batman: The Dark Knight Returns 10th anniversary edition.
