BCC’12: Harvey Awards Dinner tickets now on sale

On Saturday night, September 8th, the comic book industry, including professionals, retailers, and fans, will gather at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore to honor the 2012 Harvey Award Nominees for 2011 comic work and present the Harveys to their recipients.  This is an exciting evening, highlighted by our host Phil LaMarr, keynote speaker Ross Richie, and a special appearance by Stan Lee!

Mark Waid to keynote Harvey Awards

The Harvey Awards dinner and presentation ceremony, featuring emcee Scott Kurtz and Keynote speaker Mark Waid, will be held on Saturday, August 28th at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore.

Harvey Awards tickets are on sale now. Tickets to the event, which includes full cocktail hour (cash bar), full service dinner, awards ceremony, and gift bag are now available for $100. Tickets are available by calling Cards, Comics & Collectibles in Reisterstown, Maryland at (410) 526-7410. Major Credit Cards will be accepted for payment. Dinner tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, August 25th and will not be available at the door.

2010 Harvey Awards nominees announced

There are two big comic book awards given away each year. The first is the Eisner Awards that will be awarded in a few week’s time. The other is the Harvey Awards that are awarded during the Baltimore Comic-Con on August 28, 2010.

SDCC’09: New Bone projects on the way

Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, is delighted to announce the acquisition of US, Canada, Philippines, and English Language rights to new titles by Jeff Smith featuring characters from his bestselling BONE series of graphic novels.

First to be published will be “BONE: Tall Tales,” coming in Summer 2010, written by Jeff Smith and Tom Sniegoski, and illustrated by Jeff Smith, featuring new art and stories with favorite BONE characters. In addition, Scholastic will publish a highly-anticipated expansion of the BONE world-the Quest for the Spark Trilogy. Overseen by Smith, the trilogy will be written by Tom Sniegoski and illustrated by Jeff Smith. “BONE Quest for the Spark: Book One” (Fall 2010), “BONE Quest for the Spark: Book Two” (Spring 2011), and “BONE Quest for the Spark: Book Three” (Summer 2011) represent the first time Smith has continued the adventures set in the valley since the publication of Rose, the prequel to the BONE series-to be released by Scholastic/Graphix in August 2009. The deal for additional BONE publishing was negotiated by Vijaya Iyer for Cartoon Books/Jeff Smith and by David Saylor, Vice President, Creative Director of Trade Publishing and Editorial Director of Graphix, for Scholastic.

Scott Kurtz to Host Harvey Awards

BALTIMORE, MD (Feb. 17, 2009) — The Executive Committees of the Harvey Awards and the Baltimore Comic-Con are proud to present the official Nomination Ballot for this year’s Harvey Awards. Named in honor of the late Harvey Kurtzman, one of the industry’s most innovative talents, the Harvey Awards recognize outstanding work in comics and sequential art.

Ballots can be downloaded from HarveyAwards.org and completed forms can be e-mailed to harveyballots@hotmail.com.  Ballots are due for submission by Friday, March 27th.
In addition, Scott Kurtz has been announced as the Master of Ceremonies for the Harvey Awards dinner and ceremony.

“Scott has been a part of the Harvey Awards since they have been in Baltimore.  As both a nominee and presenter, Scott brought his unique sense of humor and fun to the ceremony. We are all looking forward to him bringing the same energy to the stage as the host of the show,” said Marc Nathan, promoter of the Baltimore Comic-Con.
