REVIEW: Guardians of the Galaxy #1

The Guardians of the Galaxy are one of those teams that have a very passionate and loyal fan base that basically single handily drive their sales, rarely picking up new readers along the way. They seem to have enough appeal to warrant an upcoming movie, however, so obviously someone at Marvel thinks they can appeal to a larger audience. It was most likely the intent, as with the rest of Marvel NOW, to try to capitalize on this potential with the new Guardians of the Galaxy #1. Does it succeed? Does it fail? MERCH: Guardians of the Galaxy #1 gets trading card set

Marvel has announced that it is releasing a series of Guardians of the Galaxy trading cards to coincide with the release of Guardians of the Galaxy #1 that arrives in March.  Sounds like a really good gimmick for collectors, but your local comic shop will need to be one of the “select retail shops hosting a launch party.”

MOVIES: The Walt Disney Studios updates film release schedule including Captain America 3D

The Walt Disney Studios today announced a change up in its theatrical release schedule, that moves a couple of movies to new dates.  Included in the shuffle is Captain America and Guardians of the Galaxy.

NYCC ’12: Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova become official

A whole slew of new books were announced last week at New York Comic Con. The exact figure comes somewhere close to the amount of Slave Leia’s that were cosplayed. I of course have no source for that little factoid, but it just seems right. Anyways, take the jump for two new series coming from Marvel in 2013.

SDCC’12: Marvel announces slate of movies

As we told you weeks ago, Marvel is indeed planning a Guardians of the Galaxy movie (complete with the Rocket Raccoon and Groot), but tonight, the studio announced the release dates for all upcoming movies, and their titles.
