With today’s announcement that Alan Scott of Earth-2 is the new gay characters, James Robinson said other gay characters will appear in DC Comics.
“There is another character down the line, but that character won’t be appearing for some time, so it’s probably a bit too early to talk about that, but this book will definitely have a diverse cast. Alan Scott won’t be the only gay character in Earth 2, I promise you that.”

The mystery is over, DC Comics has announced that Alan Scott, the Green Lantern (and only Green Lantern) of Earth 2, is the gay character that was first hinted at at KAPOW! a few weeks ago.

The X-Men, one of the world’s most popular super hero teams, have always been at the forefront of the biggest stories in comic history; and today is no different as Marvel is proud to announce the wedding that has everyone talking! Today, fans worldwide learned on ABC’s The View, that Jean-Paul Beaubier, AKA Northstar and a popular member of the X-Men, proposes to his boyfriend Kyle Jinadu in Astonishing X-Men #50, on-sale tomorrow in comic stores, on the Marvel Comics app and at the Marvel Digital Comics Shop.
Yesterday, when responding to ABC News queries, Courtney Simmons, DC Entertainment senior vice president of publicity, narrowed the list of potential characters who will come out of the closet in June.
This weekend, at Kapow! in London, DC Comics co-publisher, Dan DiDio announced that the company will reintroduce a previously existing DC character who was straight and will now be “one of our most prominent gay characters.”
