Read Ross Wellington for free

Brian Ellis contacted us to let us know that you can read the first three issues of his and Mark Van Handel’s Ross Wellington: The Victor Romeo Tango for free.

That’s right, Dear Reader, FOR FREE!

All you have to do is click on the link, and though I’m no fan of the Issuu format for reading books (we’ve been receiving a lot of review copies in this format lately), a quick scan of the issues looks like it might be right up someone’s alley; half-nekkid ladies, robots, aliens, and a black and white format that is perfect for this story.

This is all part of the build up to issue four that arrives the third week in June.

So what are you waiting for?

DIGITAL COMICS: Marvel Sneak Peek: Spider-Man: A Meal to Die For

Spider-Man is trying to horn in on everybody’s action, the latest is his team up with Top Chef, Eli Kirshtein.  The two team in Spider-Man: A Meal to Die For, and Marvel sent us a sneak peek for you to check out.

C.B. Cebulski, Marvel SVP of Creator & Content Development, added, “The more we explore the similarities between art and food worlds, the more we’ve discovered certain connections between chefs and comics, especially on a creative level. Upon hearing Eli was a comic fan, asking him to appear in a comic for us seemed like such a natural fit. The fact Eli was also open to playing an active role in the story and helped lend his culinary expertise to ideas on how to help Spidey out of a super-villain jam really added to the overall experience we had making this comic with him!”

Want a free digital comic? Witchblade has you covered

Top Cow may have tapped into the one thing that will get people to accept digital comics; the company plans to give away a free digital copy of Witchblade #144 with each physical copy sold.  Retailers will receive the download codes to distribute whenever they sell a copy of the fifteenth anniversary issue of the company’s main title.

“An anniversary like this one was something that we wanted to throw the kitchen sink at,” exclaimed the Director of Sales and Marketing Atom! Freeman. “So, not only have we put together a special anniversary issue with origin story, pinups and more, but we wanted to make sure that our digital readers also got a crack at it during the first 4 weeks.”

“Our partners in comics retail make this and the previous 15 years of Witchblade possible. So, not only will they be the exclusive place to receive one of these download codes, but we are then going to give participating retailers a credit toward future Top Cow inventory for every download credited to them by the fan.”

While this is indeed very cool news, I’m surprised Top Cow went with Wowio as the partner for this promotion instead of one of the other digital comic distributors like ComiXology.  Top Cow reps did say Witchblade #144 would be available in the other formats a month later.
