When an artist has been knocking it out of the park on a title it is sad to watch them leave, but what if an equally as talented artist were to fill that spot? Not it’s not as sad. Well put away your tissues because even though David Aja is taking a two issue break from Hawkeye, Black Bettle creator Francesco Francavilla will be taking over the art duties!
This week, Stephen and Matthew explore the excellence that is Black Beetle: No Way Out #1.
Black Beetle’s investigation of two local mob bosses is interrupted when a mysterious explosion murders them and a pub full of gangsters—taking out most of Colt City’s organized crime in one fell swoop. Francesco Francavilla’s Black Beetle: Night Shift sold out at the distributor level, and that means people are interested in the noir hero. That’s why Dark Horse Comics sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek for The Black Beetle: No Way Out #1, that you can check out, after the jump.
Dark Horse Comics is putting a lot behind Francesco Francavilla’s Black Beetle, and the company has released a new teaser image to remind you the noir series is available.
Dark Horse Comics released another teaser image for the upcoming The Black Beetle mini-series by Francesco Francavilla. Those of you who have followed Major Spoilers for years know I dig on Mr. Francavilla’s art style, and his pulp inspired character is top notch. Can’t wait to see the first book in January.
I love Francesco Francavilla’s work. If you’ve been reading this site for any amount of time, it is probably obvious as the artist shows up on the Art Appreciation Moment of the Day as often as, if not more than, Adam Hughes. Some of my favorite stuff Mr. Francavilla does deals with the pulp heroes, and his cover to Masks is mind blowing.
One of the favorite artists at Major Spoilers Francesco Francavilla. I originally got hooked on his Pulp Sunday blog where he would post all sorts of pulpy related art, including his original creation Black Beetle. Today, Mr. Francavilla has announced that Black Beetle is getting a mini-series that arrives in January 2013 from Dark Horse Comics.
It’s been too long since we’ve seen Francesco Francavilla on the pages of Major Spoilers. We’re fixing that today with his cover to Marvel: Captain America and Black Widow, a five issue mini-series written by Cullen Bunn.
There are few artists whose work I could stare at for hours. Francesco Francavilla is one of them, and his latest Batman inspired piece is a marvel to behold.
Though it won’t arrive until June, we get an early look at Francesco Francavilla’s cover to The Spider #2 today.
