SDCC’11: Fantagraphics Books to publish EC Comics Library

Fantagraphics Books President and Co-Publisher Gary Groth announced today at Comic-Con International that it has entered into a publishing agreement with William M. Gaines Agent, Inc. to publish the EC Comics Library, beginning in Summer 2012. The announcement teams two of the most storied comics publishers in history and aims to reintroduce the timeless work of EC to contemporary readers.

Free Drinks, Tony Millionaire, Fun Times, This Saturday

Fantagraphics Bookstore and Gallery is hosting a receptiong on Saturday (May 9) with Drinky the Crow creator, Tony Millionaire.

Millionaire’s appearance on Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM coincides with the festive Georgetown Second Saturday Art Attack featuring visual and performing arts presentations in dozens of locations throughout the historic arts community. Harvey Award Winners Announced

Last night at the Baltimore Comic-Con, the Harvey Awards – the industry’s oldest and most respected – were handed out for outstanding achievement in 20 different categories.  It’s the morning after (or afternoon depending on what time zone you are in), and Major Spoilers has the rundown of the winners.

The big winners of the night came from DC Comics, with All Star Superman bringing in three awards and The Perry Bible Fellowship bringing in two.  Congrats go out to all the winners!

2008 Harvey Award Nominees Announced

The Executive Committees of the Harvey Awards and the Baltimore Comic-Con have announced the nominees for the 2008 Harvey Awards.

Named in honor of the late Harvey Kurtzman, one of the industry’s most innovative talents, the Harvey Awards recognize outstanding work in comics and sequential art. They will be presented September 27, 2008 in Baltimore, MD, in conjunction with the Baltimore Comic-Con.
