Dark Horse Entertainment is bringing Eric Powell’s Goon to the big screen as a CG animated movie. Created by Eric Powell in 1999, the comic follows the adventures of a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for a feared mobster. The stories have a paranormal and comedic edge to them and concern ghosts, zombies, mad scientists and “skunk apes.” While no studio has been signed for distribution, Blur Studios will be doing the CG work. There’s also no word if this will be an original tale, or an adaptation of one of the existing story arcs. I
This June, Boom! Studios will debut it’s new series from Gary Phillips called High Rollers. Artwork will be by Sergio Carrera, with covers by Brett Weidele. “We’re happy to have such a talented crime writer of Gary Phillips’ caliber (pun intended) working with us,” said BOOM! Studios editor-in-chief Mark Waid. “Gangsters and the Mafia are America’s new vampires – the dark creatures of the underground that fascinate and appall us – and there is no one better to explore this territory than Gary Phillips.”

Jeff Bennett, who you’ve heard on the New Frontier, The Boondocks, the Land Before Time, and other popular animated shows voices the “electrifying” role. Take the jump for you first look at the villain, and the rundown for the episode.
