DCGeoff JohnsGreen LanternReview

Red, Yellow, Green, Violet and Blue… What Kind of Lantern are You? Geoff Johns has been spinning a tale of epic proportion across the entirety of the DC Universe, and it will hopefully pay off in this summer’s Blackest Night.  Until then, readers have been given a rebooted origin story of Hal Jordan, and are currently being fed the origin stories of the rainbow corps of lanterns.  We’ve seen the birth of the Red Lanterns in their blood spewing conversion, and continue to see the Yellow Lanterns and their baby stealing ways in Green Lantern Corps, but it isn’t until

With blood and rage of crimson red… DC’s Sinestro Corps was the dark horse hit that got me, and many other comic readers, back into the Green Lantern titles.  Geoff Johns followed this up with a retelling of Hal Jordan’s origin, that skewed everything those of us old enough to remember Emerald Dawn attempted to do 15 plus years ago.  The main reason for retelling the origin?  To add in the character of Atrocitus and set up his hatred for Sinestro, who left him nailed to a crucifix of sorts in sector 666.  Someone with that much rage and hate

Retconning the retcon The Sinestro Corps War brought me back to the Green Lantern titles.  I soaked up every issue, rediscovering old friends, and meeting new ones.  It was enough for me to pull out my battered trade of Emerald Dawn and Emerald Dawn II to relive the origins of Hal Jordan, and his beginnings that would lead him to be the greatest Green Lantern of them all.  So when Geoff Johns and DC Comics announced the Secret Origin story arc for the Green Lantern book, I was a bit concerned.  Emerald Dawn and Emerald Dawn II aren’t that old,

Dark or not, Green Lantern is well into production, and in an interview with MTV, Marc Guggenheim gave the low down on what Green Lantern stories inspired the movie. “Certainly ‘Emerald Dawn’ was one of the things that we read at the outset,” said Guggenheim when asked about the connection between spoiler and screenplay. Of course, looking to “Dawn” only reveals one piece of the puzzle. Also included will be characterization from the 1970’s Neal Adams/Denny O’Neil comics dealing with drug use and other social issues, the Dave Gibbons era, and we might also see elements from Geoff Johns recent

Here’s what we know about the Marc Guggenheim, Michael Green, and Greg Berlanti Green Lantern script: It will feature Hal Jordan It is “an incredibly faithful rendition of the character” The film is currently undergoing a rewrite The images by Brian Murray are reported to be concept sketches for the film, and as they have been pretty much pulled from teh Interwebs (except for Cinematical) it looks like these could be how Hal will appear If the concept sketches are to be believed, Emerald Dawn could be the storyline for the film. Even with the Emerald Dawn adaptation, I wonder
