Marvel has announced artist Ed McGuinness will return to the Hulk title beginning with issue #30.
“Thanks to his amazing run with Jeph Loeb, Ed’s become THE definitive Hulk artist of our time,” said Senior Editor Mark Paniccia. “HULK #30 is pure McGuinness madness, introducing new characters that are bound to be instant classics, and some Hulk villains that fans have been frothing for. All this and the Impossible Man, too.”
According to the company, the issue will find Red Hulk and Green Hulk teaming up to put an end to something bad. In the press release, Marvel said “The Earth will shake as the COMPOUND HULK makes its shocking debut!” And by Compound Hulk, I hope they mean in the team-up sense, and not really the merging of the two brutes.

Marvel released a sneak peek to Hulk #24 by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinnes, that you can see after the jump.

Director McG created a music video for the Tate Gallery’s Pop Life exhibit by Takashi Murakami who is showcasing the otaku phenomenon in Japan.
Otaku (plural noun)
In Japan) young people who are highly skilled in or obsessed with computer technology to the detriment of their social skills.
The Akihabara Majokko Princess video features Kirsten Dunst strutting around the streets of Akihabara (a major shopping area for electronic, computer, anime, and otaku goods) singing a cover of The Vapors’ “Turning Japanese”. Even though many people still believe the song is about masturbation, you won’t find any of that going on in the video (although there is a NSFW component or two in the video).
McG is a great music video director, and it shows in this slickly produced music video.

Rulk is getting the Kotobukiya statue treatment in July 2010 with a 13-inch, 1/6th scale beatuty that shows off Ed McGuinness’ art style in three dimensions.
Sculpted by master artist Eric Sosa, Red Hulk stands almost 13 inches tall (1/6th scale), veritably leaping off of his exclusive “georama†base. Not only does the volcanic earth look great on its own, it will connect to the base on the upcoming Hulk to form a dynamic battle scene!
The statue will only set you back $199.

Marvel announced this Red Hulk Holiday variant by Ed McGuinness will appear on the cover of Hulk #18. There will also be another variant cover for Fall of the Hulks Gamma that connects with Hulk #18. Hulk #18 arrives December 16, 2009.

The hordes have moved on, which means it is time to offer up another Rapid-Fire Roundup of San Diego Comic-Con News, distilled to its very essence; which makes it quite powerful, so use caution when reading.
Seems like forever since the last Ultimatum issue, and we still have to wait until the end of May to see what happens.

Am I the only person reading this series still?
The first arc of the Superman/Batman series by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness has been confirmed by several online sources as the next DC animated feature to follow Green Lantern: First Flight.
If the animated film is true to the series, it will feature President Lex Luthor framing Batman and Superman as enemies to the world as a Kryptonite asteroid heads toward Earth. He then offers up a one million billion dollar reward to bring the two in. This then leads to giant rocket ships, Captain Atom and Hawkman making appearances, and concludes with Luthor in his famous green armored suit proclaiming the day of reconning is coming.
While it sounds corny, the first arc wasn’t too bad and if done in the Ed McGuinness style, it could be a really good direct to DVD movie.
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is expected to hit stores in the fall.
UPDATE:Â Here’s the official synopsis from Warner Home Video
United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a
kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty
on the heads of the Man of Steel and his “partner in crime†Batman.
Super heroes and super villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of
Superman and Batman, who must unite – and recruit super help – to
stave off the action-packed onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover
Luthor’s devious plot to take command of far more than North America.

February 18, 2009 will wrap up the Ultimate X-Men series with issue #100. The same day sees the end of Ultimate Fantastic Four which had a mildly interesting 60-issue run. The end of the series ties directly into Ultimatum from Marvel, which seems to be hell-bent on destroying the Ultimate Universe that spawned the whole Marvel Zomibe craze. I’ve done a little digging, but after the last round of solicitations from Marvel, I’m more convinced all of Ultimate U is ending when Ultimate Spider-Man reaches issue #133.
