Necessary Evil: Super-Villains of DC Comics kicked off Opening Night festivities of New York Comic Con with a standing-room-only World Premiere of the documentary on Thursday, October 10, the crowd enthusiastically applauding the film’s first public screening.
During the summer of 2012, director Joel Allen Schroeder started a Kickstarter campaign for $50,000 to finish up his Calvin & Hobbes centered documentary. Collecting almost double what was asked, Schroeder has been able to finish up the film and the release date is closing in. The big news from DC Comics coming from the San Diego Comic Con (right now) is the big villains event kicking off in the coming months. To tie into that, DC Comics has a new documentary film looking at the super-villains for the DCU.
PBS announced today that American actor, producer, director and screenwriter Liev Schreiber (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” Showtime’s “Ray Donovan”) will be the on-camera host for the upcoming series SUPERHEROES: A NEVER-ENDING BATTLE, which premieres October 8, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
In two weeks, Zach on Film will examine Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. As a lead up to the discussion, take a gander at Jamie Benning’s Inside Jaws, a documentary/commentary/filmumentary of the movie.
